Where engineers are needed in Russia

An engineer is a profession that was in great demand during the times of the USSR. Competitions for this specialty at universities were so high that talented children were left behind and were forced to either go to work and prepare for a year in order to enter the desired faculty, or go to study for another specialty. Times have changed and the attitude towards this profession has also changed.

What is happening now?

Oddly enough, but on TV or in the media you can often hear that the country lacks engineers, that there are too many “unnecessary specialists”: managers, lawyers, accountants, etc., but they do not want to study engineers. At the same time, many university graduates, being in search of work in their specialty, receive multiple refusals due to lack of work experience.

For example, a person graduated from an institute, wants to work as an engineer, sends out his resume, goes to interviews, and everywhere they point out to him that he is completely inexperienced. And how to get this experience, no one says. Everyone just doesn't want to take it and ... they continue to look for engineers.

In most cases, yesterday's students either get a job in their specialty for a very low salary, or they choose a different path: a job in a completely different sphere.

How to proceed

Get a job in the automation department. This will provide skills and relevant experience. Several years will pass and those companies that previously refused a candidate for a vacant position will themselves call such an employee to work. But whether an experienced worker will already agree to a small salary offered by these organizations is a moot point.

Where else to go

Of course, not everything is as bad as described above. The most important thing is not to give up. Employment largely depends on the person himself and his mood.

Engineers are needed in the following economic areas:

  • in the military industry (but candidates with no experience have almost zero chances of getting there);
  • in the transport industry;
  • in factories;
  • in construction;
  • in the aviation field (for beginners, the chances are minimal, but having gained experience, it is quite possible to be in a good position with a decent salary).

Such employees are also needed in the scientific field, but here they usually combine several areas at once. For example, they are engaged in both the economy and the environment. Difficult but interesting.

Those who love to invent will enjoy working at a research institute or in a design bureau. People who consider themselves to be practitioners and realists will feel great in enterprises where various computers are used in their work.

And finally, another interesting option is teaching. Having the specialty "engineer" in the diploma, the specialist will be able to teach this to other people. By the way, this is a very good option, because talented teachers are always needed. In addition, more and more educational institutions are opening in our country, which means that the number of vacancies is also growing!
