The Japanese authorities decided on May 25 to cancel the emergency regime, which was introduced due to the spread of coronavirus infection, in 5 regions. The regime is still established in Tokyo, Saitama, Kanagawa, Hokkaido and Chiba. In the country, restrictions were in effect from the first days of April. Already on May 25, the emergency mode is completely canceled. This recommendation was given by an expert commission. Earlier, on the basis of her estimates, restrictions were lifted from several regions of the country.

The Tokyo administration presented a roadmap according to which measures should be relaxed after the emergency regime is lifted. The document is based on 5 principles, consisting of citizens' self-discipline, readiness for a second wave of illness, and the creation of a society with an ingrained concept of a new everyday life. This means that people must consciously reduce the risk of spreading the disease, be careful about hygiene and maintain social distance.

When the emergency mode is canceled, the work of educational institutions and museums will resume. Restaurants and bars will be able to serve visitors for more hours. While they are forced to end their working day at 20:00. Soon, the deadline will increase to 22:00.
At the next stage, kindergartens, theaters, venues for events will open (they must have less than 100 visitors).
At the last stage, cinemas, game and entertainment centers, halls with slot machines will resume their activities. Restaurants and bars will be able to serve customers until 00:00.

On April 16, an emergency regime was established throughout Japan. It was extended until May 31. In most regions, it will be removed ahead of schedule, since the epidemiological situation is improving. In the country, 17.2 thousand people were infected with COVID-19. Of these, more than 13 thousand patients went on the mend, and for 800 citizens the disease ended in death.
