The term for issuing a visa to Italy does not depend on its type, with the exception of an urgent one. Also, a national visa has been established, allowing an unlimited stay in Italian territory in case of a request for a residence permit. For those who decide to stay for permanent residence, it is issued for several months (that is, not only for a year), but renewed on the spot, in Italy, when the validity ends.

In addition, there is a multiple-entry tourist visa to Italy. It is available for up to three years to individuals who:

  • come to the country twice a year or more;
  • have at least 2 Italian or 3 Schengen visas, one of which is Italian.

To obtain this type of visa, you must confirm the financial capabilities that allow you to live in the country without working.
