Foreigners who have issued a temporary residence permit cannot work for hire, but can run their own business.
A foreign citizen who has received the status of a permanent resident (permanent residence) or long-term resident (DVZH) has the right to officially get a job in Bulgaria without a special permit. In order to work for hire, you must obtain a work permit. This document will be required when applying for a long-term visa (type D), which allows you to stay in Bulgaria for a long time.

Within 20 days from the date of submission of the application, a decision is made to issue a permit.A permit document is issued for a period of up to one year or for the period of validity of an employment contract (up to a year), and can be extended for a period of up to three years.
After the employer receives a work permit for a foreigner, a work visa to Bulgaria (category D) is issued.
The official website of the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in the Russian Federation contains a list of documents required to obtain this type of visa. You need to provide:
- foreign passport, preferably biometric (validity period - at least 18 months from the date of submission);
- visa application form;
- color photograph (1 piece);

How much do Bulgarians get
From January 2021, the minimum wage in Bulgaria is 560 levs (approximately 270 euros), that is, the employer is not entitled to pay less.
The average wage level depends on the field of activity and the region. In cities with high economic activity (Sofia, Varna, Burgas, Stara Zagora), the average salary ranges from 460 to 770 euros.
By type of economic activity, as of the end of 2021, the salary is as follows:
