In connection with the coronavirus pandemic, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomrat Tokarev announced the extension of the state of emergency until May 11, 2021 in case there are no new outbreaks of the disease.

Nevertheless, some citizens are expected to relax the regime. The State Commission is developing a list of enterprises that can start work even before the emergency is lifted. It is planned to open access to playgrounds, although sanitary requirements will remain the same.

The President issued a decree on the payment of 7,000 rubles to citizens whose income level has decreased; needy families will continue to supply food kits.

The emergency regime in Kazakhstan was introduced on March 16, 2021. Many organizations and enterprises have been transferred to the remote mode of work. Any mass events, the functioning of cinemas, exhibitions, etc. are prohibited. Public transport is also limited.
