European Commissioner Ilva Johansson at a press conference announced the gradual weakening of quarantine measures in the territory of the EU member states.
The agenda suggested: gradual lifting of bans on internal movement, lifting of restrictions on entry and exit within the city / region.

Europeans will also be allowed to visit places of mass stay of people, including: beaches, restaurants, cafes, hotels, but with the observance of social distancing and it remains mandatory to wear personal protective equipment, but tough measures in the fight against infection can be resumed in the event of an increase in the number of patients with COVID-19.
Also, within the framework of the program, the restoration of the transportation and tourism industries, which were particularly affected due to quarantine, was stipulated.

The EU tourist season from June to July is estimated at around 150 billion euros. So the Union seeks to mitigate at least some of the losses caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

According to Johansson, at first it is advisable to make a decision to open "the borders of each country, then the Schengen area and the EU", and only then discuss the issue of opening the external borders of the European Union.

The preliminary date for the mutual opening of the borders of European states is after June 15.
The issue of opening external borders was not even discussed at the meeting, since some EU members did not introduce any controls at their internal borders at all.
