Central Asia is a region with the cleanest air, unique landscapes and amazing states, which more and more often in recent years have begun to attract the interest of foreign tourists. One of these countries is the former Soviet republic with a very sonorous, but not always pronounced name, Kyrgyzstan. Local residents are more interested in the question of where they can go without unnecessary migration formalities. And here it will be interesting to know that visa-free countries for Kyrgyzstan in 2021 make up an extensive list.
Where can you go with your internal passport
Recall that travel abroad for citizens of any country, including Kyrgyzstan, is possible in several ways:
- if you have a civil passport of your country;
- on the basis of a foreign identity card;
- after being able to obtain a visa at the consulate of the country that makes such a requirement;
- on the basis of a visa stamp put upon arrival at the destination;
- having received an electronic entry permit in advance.
The easiest is to cross the border, which allows the presentation of a national identity card. This means that the traveler is relieved of the need to collect a heavy package of documents, pay a visit to the consulate and comply with other migration requirements.
The list of visa-free countries for citizens of Kyrgyzstan is currently limited:
- Tajikistan - 3 days after arrival it is necessary to go through registration;
- Kazakhstan - incoming citizens of Kyrgyzstan must fill out a migration card at the border, and after 5 days of stay in the country, register for migration. You can stay in the republic for no more than 90 days;
- Russia - you can stay in the country for 30 days without registration.
To visit these states, residents of Kyrgyzstan will only have to take with them an old-style national passport or an ID-card, which they can get in 2021. Having a migration card in hand, the Kyrgyz, if they wish, will be able to obtain a work permit in the listed states.
Where can you go with your passport
The next category of countries, which will also not cause big problems with organizing travel, are territories, the borders of which can be crossed with a foreign passport. This list includes exclusively the former neighbors in the Soviet space:
- Ukraine - up to 3 months of stay;
- Russia - maximum stay 90 days;
- Georgia - you can stay in the country no more than 360 days;
- Azerbaijan - 90 days;
- Moldova - 90 days;
- Belarus - 90 days;
- Uzbekistan - no more than 60 days;
- Armenia - up to 180 days.
At the preparatory stage, you need to make sure that you do not have any travel bans, and that the validity of your passport is sufficient to spend the necessary time in the country of your visit.
At the border control, a special stamp on entry will be put in the passport of Kyrgyzstan and then the same stamp will be put on the exit.
Obtaining a visa permit online
The main advantage that an electronic permit gives is the possibility of quick and easy registration. The procedure is very simple: you just need to fill out an application on the website and upload scanned copies of all the required documents to the portal of the consulate you need.
The main requirement that applicants should adhere to is that the application must be submitted a maximum of 3 months before the trip and at least 72 hours before it.
Another rule applies to foreign certificates. Check its expiration date before starting to fill out the questionnaire. This period should be sufficient not only for the trip itself, but also assume a certain amount of time, which is set individually by each country: most often in the range from 3 to 6 months.
Before traveling, an e-visa must be printed out, attaching papers to it, which are provided for by the migration regulations of a particular state.
This can be a return ticket, insurance, hotel reservations, and more.
Here is a list of states that allow Kyrgyz citizens to visit their territory on the basis of a visa obtained online:
- Sri Lanka - you still have to pay a fee of US $ 30;
- India;
- Gabon - issued only to those arriving at Libreville airport;
- Kenya - the visa permit is valid for 3 months.
Ordering an e-visa is always accompanied by the payment of a fee.
Visa upon arrival
The list of visa-free countries for citizens of Kyrgyzstan may well be supplemented by those that put a stamp in their passport upon arrival at one of the local airports. But in this situation, a foreign passport alone will not be enough. You will have to take with you a few more documents, the list of which for different countries may differ significantly.
Usually, in order to obtain a visa upon arrival, in addition to a passport, you must have:
- financial travel guarantees;
- insurance policy for the entire period of the trip;
- hotel reservation;
- Photo;
- return flight ticket.
You can stamp your passport upon arrival at the airports of the following countries:

- Djibouti,

- Antigua and Barbuda,

It should be borne in mind, however, that such a procedure is possible only at the airports of three cities: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh and Da Nang.
It is important to know that in order to stamp a passport right at the Vietnamese border, you will first have to make a request on the Internet in order to receive confirmation from the Vietnam Migration Service.
If you already have a confirmation, print it out in advance.
The Republic of Korea deserves special attention. Entry into its territory requires a mandatory visa. The website of the Korean Consulate in Kyrgyzstan contains information that for citizens of this state, obtaining a visa is a mandatory procedure. Currently, there are 34 of its varieties, but there is no visa permit for tourists. To visit the country, you will have to order a visitor visa, supporting the application with a large number of documents.
In which countries is visa-free transit possible?
It often happens that acquaintance with a country occurs during a short stay in its territory - while making a transfer to another flight to a third country. And although everyone knows that this acquaintance will not last long, many do not miss the opportunity to seize the chance. Moreover, sometimes this period is enough to see the sights and plunge into the local atmosphere.
One of these states is Singapore. Transit on its territory without a visa permit is allowed within 96 hours; but you need to have a visa to the country that is the final destination of the flight.
Visa-free transit also includes the stay of Kyrgyz citizens in the Schengen area. Crossing the Schengen border already means the presence of a stamp of the corresponding category in the passport. This means that you can make a transplant on the basis of this permission.
How to check if you need a visa
The first step in the preparatory stage of the trip should be to check the need to obtain a visa to the desired country. How to check if a visa is required for travel and on what basis is a specific border crossing?
For such cases, a large number of services have been developed to help tourists. They also allow you to find out what documents you need to have with you so that there are no problems at the border. An example is the website of KLM, one of the leading air carriers.
The principle of the service is very simple. The following data must be entered:
- Country of citizenship.
- The state to which the visit is planned.
- Country of transit.
The system can also request the validity of the passport and its type - regular or biometric. After a short wait, the program will give an answer: it will contain not only information about visa support, but also about in which cases a refusal at the border is possible.
In some cases, the system also asks for an official residence permit in other countries of the world. After all, it is well known that the list of countries where access is open to residents, say, the United States, is much more extensive than for residents of Kyrgyzstan. Therefore, if a Kyrgyz has an American Green Card, it is likely that this may affect the algorithm of actions.
Do not be surprised when asked which country you have spent the last 6 days. It may turn out that if you have a stamp of this or that state in your passport, you will not be able to cross the border of the country of interest to you at the moment.
At the same time, do not forget that the information received from the service is for reference: exact information can be obtained only at the consulate of the country of visit.
Summing up
Like residents of other countries, Kyrgyz can travel the world without a visa. But the list of such territories is very small and mainly includes only the former Soviet republics. The list of states where you can get on the basis of a national passport of a citizen of Kyrgyzstan is even smaller.
A number of powers allow the Kyrgyz to cross the border with an electronic visa, others put it right at the airport. In neither case, however, should we forget that you will need to have some more documents, and the final decision on entry will be made by the border service.
