Life in the state is gradually returning to normal. This can be evidenced by the fact that one of the sections of the Great Wall of China, visited by 10 million people a year, is again available for tourists. This is a fragment of a wall passing through the Badaling mountain range, which is located at an altitude of more than 1000 m above sea level. The fortification section, erected in 1505, is very popular with tourists. Mainly because it is located near the capital (70 km north of Beijing).

The site, listed by UNESCO in 1987, has been one of the “seven new wonders of the world” since 2007 and has been closed since 25 January. This was triggered by the coronavirus epidemic, which was rapidly gaining momentum. Now the monument is reopened. Although the local authorities reported that the limit on the number of visitors has been changed. In June 2021, it was found that up to 65 thousand people a day can visit it. Currently, the limit of visitors is equal to 20 thousand guests daily.

To visit the attraction, you must first book your ticket online. Upon arrival at the place, each tourist is measured. Visitors are also required to wear a protective mask at all times and maintain a minimum distance of one meter from other visitors.

The rest of the Great Wall of China will remain closed until further notice.

As of Wednesday, March 25, most travel restrictions in Hubei province, where the first cases of coronavirus infection appeared, have been lifted. From April 8, it will also be possible to reach the city of Wuhan, which was the first source of the virus. However, according to the Chinese authorities, only those people who are in a group with a small risk of contracting coronavirus will be able to get there. Most of the new COVID-19 cases are from overseas travelers to China. These people are under strict quarantine to quickly neutralize the virus.
