A new viral disease, Covid-19, which first appeared in China and then swept across many European countries, radically changed the world: states closed their borders, and many enterprises on their territory temporarily stopped their activities.

However, after almost 2 months of forced quarantine measures, the outbreak is decreasing and countries are gradually beginning to weaken quarantine measures.
A similar example is with Portugal. In Portugal, 23.8 thousand people were infected with the coronavirus, 903 people died.

The state of emergency was introduced before May 2, and by the end of the month the parliament plans to lift the quarantine in order to start the economic recovery.

It is worth noting that tourism accounts for 20% of the country's economy, and therefore the local authorities are interested in opening the summer season in 2021. However, everything depends on the increase in the incidence in the country. If the incidence rate decreases, then by the end of May, restaurants, cafes, sports facilities will begin to open, but in compliance with sanitary standards and a special sanitary guarantee.

And from June or July, it is possible that hotels and inns will open for guests, if the ecological situation in the country is favorable.

In Portugal, tourists will be offered to go not to the famous Lisbon and Porto, but to remote and no less picturesque towns on the ocean coast. Regular flights are planned to be launched in July.

Vice-President of the Portuguese Association of Hoteliers and Restaurateurs - Carlos Maura noted that in order to support the tourism sector and preserve jobs, the tourism sector needs financial support from the state.

According to a recent survey, 78% of surveyed tourists consider Portugal to be the safest country to travel in 2021.
