On Monday, May 25, at a briefing, Moldovan President Igor Dodon announced the government's intention to weaken quarantine measures from June 1. The head of state added that if the commission on emergency in health care approves the government's proposal, then from June 1, most of the existing restrictions will be removed: market pavilions, shopping and entertainment centers, public catering points will be reopened; hotels and hotels and fitness centers will reopen; will open international flights.

At the same time, school and preschool institutions will continue to be closed and "the ban on mass gatherings, where the number exceeds 50 people, will remain." In addition to lifting restrictions, Dodon offered to financially support certain categories of the population:

  • to assign a one-time payment to pensioners in the amount of 700 lei (about $ 40);
  • extend the loan repayment period to entrepreneurs until the end of the production year.

The leader of the country proposes to pay credit% to entrepreneurs at the expense of the state treasury.

As a weighty argument for making such a decision, the leader of the republic mentioned that over the week the number of citizens who have recovered from Covid-19 has grown significantly, and the increase in new cases of the disease and the number of deaths has decreased.

Recall that since the beginning of the quarantine, 7,093 registered cases of coronavirus have been recorded, 250 of which have become fatal.

Since May 16, the Moldovan authorities have introduced a health emergency and a number of restrictive measures for 30 days, but due to the improvement in the epidemiological situation in the country, they may weaken the quarantine measures earlier than the aforementioned deadline.
