Study in Israel

The special attention paid by the authorities to education in the country has allowed Israel to take the second place in the world in terms of the number of graduates. Educational diplomas are recognized in all world states.

Higher education

Education in higher schools in Israel is carried out according to the Anglo-Saxon system and provides for obtaining a bachelor's degree in 3 - 5 years, for a master's degree - more for 1–2 years, a doctoral degree is obtained by studying an additional 2 to 4 years and fulfilling his study.

For a graduate from the CIS, a school certificate is not enough to enter a university in Israel: it is necessary to complete preparatory courses. If an applicant graduated from at least one university course in his homeland, then he does not undergo training.

Age range:

• Young people after 16 years of age are admitted to preparatory courses;
• Bachelor's degree education is available from the age of 18;
• Master's and doctoral studies are accepted after 20 years.

The exact time of the beginning of classes at Israeli universities has not been established, since it is timed to coincide with the end of the Sukkot celebration, the date of which changes annually. The 13-14 week fall semester ends in December-January, the spring semester in May-June. Upon completion, a written exam or essay is taken.

Educational programs

The bachelor's degree can be obtained in all Israeli universities. The learning process lasts 3-4 days a week. Bachelors in sociology and students from the Faculty of Natural Sciences will graduate in 3.5 years, bachelors in engineering - 4.5 years, future doctors - in 5 years from the date of admission, nurses study for 4 years.

The master's program is designed for daily classes at the university, lasting 6-7 hours.

There are two types of master's programs:

1. Research. Provides for the use of research results in further work on the doctoral program;
2. Applied. University graduates will have further employment.

Study programs in colleges of the country subdivide these educational institutions into the following:

• Pedagogical;
• Regional.

In total, there are more than 50 colleges in the country - public and private.

Conditions for admission

The single test that all applicants to educational institutions take is psychometric. The test scores in points are the criterion for selection to the university. With a scale of results from 200 to 800 points, the passing rate will be 400. The test result remains valid for 7 years.

The assignment includes 9 sections assessing the applicant's verbal and quantitative thinking, as well as the degree of his proficiency in English and Hebrew.

Applicants to technical universities are examined in mathematics and physics. Applicants to theater, art and music institutions go through the viewing and listening procedure, submit their own creative works. Only Israelis or people with Israeli roots can enter the medical specialty.

Russians who have completed 11 grades in the Russian Federation can enter the first stage of higher education provided:

• Fluency in English, Hebrew (B1 and A2 degrees);
• High academic performance;
• Availability of financial ability to pay for tuition.

A child from Russia who graduated from grade 9 must receive a certificate of secondary education in Israeli schools.

What documents are required for admission

To enter a university, you need to prepare:

• Copy of passport with notarization and translation into English or Hebrew;
• Photo 3 x 4 cm;
• Document confirming the payment of the registration fee;
• Psychometric test result;
• A copy of the secondary education document with translation and notary certification;
• The document confirming the completion of the training department.

A student visa can be issued both at the Israeli Embassy in Moscow and upon arrival in the country. In the second case, the application is submitted to the Israeli Population Authority.

The cost of studying at Israeli universities is quite high, but for Russians this amount increases by another quarter and amounts to:

Is it possible to get education for free

There is no free higher education in the Israeli state. But for the repatriates (young people of Jewish origin) there is a special funding program. The full coverage of the cost of training for these funds will not happen, however by 30-50% will reduce annual payments. An exemption from payment is made for outstanding student achievement.

Scholarships and grants for foreigners

There are 32 types and types of scholarships and grants provided to students. The most significant are:

• The Global Education scholarship allows Russian bachelors and masters to receive about 20 thousand dollars... Available to students at Tel Aviv University, Technion, Hebrew University. The condition for granting is work in Russia in the received specialty for at least 3 years;
• Institute scholarship. Weizmann, which monthly masters (1.5 thousand dollars) and doctor (2.0 thousand dollars) throughout the training. For doctoral students who have young children and preschoolers, the scholarship is increased.

In addition to gratuitous aid, Ben-Gurion and Technion Universities offer interest-free loans to foreign students.
