Every foreigner intending to live in the Russian Federation for a long time must obtain a temporary residence permit. One of the prerequisites for issuing a TRP is that the applicant must pass the appropriate testing.

Testing to obtain RVP

According to the norms of the migration legislation of the Russian Federation, every foreigner applying for a temporary residence permit is obliged to confirm the possibility of his socio-cultural integration into Russian society.

This possibility is confirmed by:

  • A certificate issued to an applicant for a TRP upon successful completion of the relevant exam;
  • Other documents of the established form (certificate of obtaining general secondary education in the USSR, diploma of graduation from a Russian university, etc.).

Who is required to be tested

In accordance with the requirements of the legislation, in order to obtain a TRP, all migrants are required to undergo comprehensive testing, with the exception of:

  • Persons who have proved the fact of proficiency in the Russian language;
  • Full-time students of accredited universities of the Russian Federation;
  • Participants in the state program to promote resettlement;
  • Citizens of the Republic of Belarus;
  • Highly qualified professionals and their family members;
  • Persons under the age of 18 and / or recognized as legally incompetent;
  • Women and men who have reached the age of 60 and 65, respectively.

Testing

In the course of the testing under consideration, the level of proficiency in the state language is determined, as well as knowledge of the basics of Russian history and legislation.

Price

The exam is conducted on a reimbursable basis. Payment is made at the place of filing an application for participation. In case of failure, the funds paid are non-refundable.

Exam content

The testing under consideration consists of 3 basic blocks:

  1. Russian language;
  2. Russian history;
  3. Legislative foundations of the Russian Federation.

The first block includes checking the proficiency of the basics:

  1. Vocabulary and grammar (25 tasks, format - question-answer);
  2. Readings (10 tasks, format - question-answer);
  3. Listening (10 tasks, format - checking the listening skills of Russian speech);
  4. Letters (format - filling out a questionnaire);
  5. Conversational speech (format - short interview).

The other two blocks contain 20 questions each and are in the form of a test. Depending on the specific task, the answers are given to the examinee orally or in writing.

Allotted time

The time allotted for completing tasks is limited 135 minutes... The first block is allocated 75 minutes, for each of the remaining - by 30.

Required documents

The applicant must submit originals and copies:

  • Passports (including a notarized translation);
  • Migration registration certificates;
  • Migration card.

Recording and passing

You can sign up for testing at a specialized center (or its branch) operating on the basis of an authorized institution of higher professional education. There are similar centers in all major cities of the Russian Federation.

In most institutions, you can sign up both in person and remotely (by phone or online). Upon registration, the applicant is informed about the place and time of the event. Testing takes place in person (it is impossible to pass online).

Training

Grade

Rating system:

  1. Russian language: 300-point systemwhere the total passing score is not less than 210;
  2. History and fundamentals of the legislation of the Russian Federation (for each block): 100-point system, where the passing score is not less than 50.

Possibility of retaking

In case of failure, the test can be passed again. There is no limitation on the number of possible retakes. However, the examinee is obliged to re-pay for each retake.

If only one subsection of a certain basic block fails, only the failed subsection will need to be retaken. In this case, only half of the cost is paid.

Issuance of a certificate

Upon passing the test, the examinee is notified of the results (often immediately after passing), as well as the time and place of receiving the certificate. The deadline for waiting for issue - 10 working days from the date of testing.

  • The exact list of required documents may vary depending on the rules of the chosen institution;

Conditions for passing the reviewed tests - language proficiency and knowledge of the basics of history and legislation of the Russian Federation at an established level. The obtained certificate will allow you to issue a temporary residence permit, but will not be suitable for obtaining a residence permit or citizenship.
