Before traveling to the Middle Kingdom, many Russian tourists wonder if they need a visa to China. There are several entry options, each with its own nuances. Correct paperwork or compliance with the requirements of the host country allows you to repeatedly visit the state and not receive a lifelong entry ban.

Visa-free entry

According to local legislation, some provinces and cities are highlighted, the visit of which is available to Russians without a preliminary visa application.

Their list is presented:

  • Hong Kong;
  • Macau;
  • Taiwan;
  • Hainan;
  • Qingdao.

Important! Travelers who entered China without a visa (in the above regions) are not allowed to visit other parts of the country. When crossing the city limits, they can be declared offenders and expelled from the state. Each region requires tourists to comply with local regulations.

Hainan

Since May 2018, the island can be visited not only by citizens of the Russian Federation, but also by residents of another 58 states (Kazakhstan among them). To visit the island without a visa, you need to know a few rules:

  • you can enter only with a tourist voucher of one of the agencies;
  • arrival must be by international direct flight or via Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau;
  • during the visit, visits to the mainland of the PRC are prohibited.

Note! A little earlier, the authorities required travelers to arrive in groups (minimum 2 people). While on the wreck, they had to move together according to a predetermined route. The new entry rules for this part of China allow for individual travel.

Hong Kong

The autonomous unit can independently determine the immigration policy on its territory. Residents of certain states have the right to visit Hong Kong without permits for the following purposes:

  • recreation;
  • meetings with business partners;
  • visiting relatives or friends, but only with a formalized invitation;
  • transit stop at the airport.

In addition to the main goal, the legislation also provides for the limitation of the terms of stay in the territory of the autonomy. You can stay in China without permits 14 days, if a tourist has a need for a longer stay or visiting other parts of the PRC, then he will have to open a visa in the standard manner.

For your information! If a tourist has an urgent need to visit Shenzhen, then a five-day visa can be issued at the border crossing with Hong Kong. It is valid only on the territory of Shenzhen.

Macau

The autonomy also has the right to independently decide on the free stay of guests of the state. To increase the number of tourists, the island's authorities have introduced a visit without permits. The trip is allowed for the following purposes:

  • acquaintance with historical sights or cultural monuments;
  • visiting one of the gaming establishments: casino, club, hippodrome;
  • business trip or participation in experience exchange conferences;
  • visiting relatives and friends;
  • transit.

Important! The presence of citizens of other states on the territory of the autonomy should not exceed one calendar month, that is, 30 days. The countdown starts from the moment you pass through the border control point. You can fly from one visa-free space to another, but attempts to travel by rail usually end in expulsion from the PRC.

For Belarusians, visiting China is a little easier, summer 2018... The Republic of Belarus has concluded an agreement that has simplified the entry of residents of both states. Since that time, Belarusian travelers can stay in the PRC without additional permission.

Separate requirements remained for those wishing to fly to Hong Kong, the old standards remained there (the maximum time is 14 days). Obtaining a visa (for those living in Belarus) will be required for persons who have decided to stay in the PRC for more than 90 days.

Where is stamped upon arrival

In some cases, a Chinese visa may be stamped on the passport upon arrival. The Chinese migration law states that an exception is a study trip to Urumqi, Hainan and Beijing. In the group of arrivals there must be 2 or more people. The travel agency provides the lists of groups to the border service in advance for verification.

Important! There is also a period of restriction on stay: travelers cannot stay in the territory for more than 3 weeks. For the entire period, they are not allowed to leave the place of entry.

Visa-free transit

Visitors to China do not need a visa if they take a transit flight through its territory. Standard time spent (while waiting for a connecting flight) -24-144 h.:

  • long stay (6 days or 144 h.) provided in Shanghai, Nanjing and Hangzhou;
  • a short (3 days or 72 hours) - in Beijing, Guangzhou, Dalian, Xian, Chongqing, Chengdu, Wuhan, Guilin, Kunming, Harbin, Xiamen.

Note! While waiting to board the next plane, tourists can move within the above cities. Crossing their administrative boundaries is strictly prohibited.

Conditions for residents of border areas

A simplified visa regime with China is provided for residents who are permanently registered:

  • in the regions - Amur, Irkutsk, Chita;
  • in the regions - Primorsky, Zabaikalsky, Khabarovsk.

These regions were classified as border regions, so you can cross the border with a Russian passport with a registration mark, with a passport or with an invitation from Chinese partners / relatives.

Important! The time spent in the PRC depends on the final purpose of the trip and can be 15-180 days.

When is it necessary to apply for a tourist visa and what is needed for this

What do you need to know to travel to China? There are several options for visas for tourism:

  • single-entry type with entry to30 days and the interval between trips 3 months;
  • double - double visits to the state (each for 30 days) in compliance with the corridor of 3 months.

A visa to Guangzhou or other area is often issued according to the L-type (for a single or double trip). It is considered the most common and is often issued instead of a business visa due to the simplicity of preparing the package (it is enough to indicate that the main purpose is tourism).

Important! Permits for tourism do not allow you to stay in China for more than 30 days. If the traveler violates the requirement, then the next time he can be refused for a certain time or on an indefinite basis.

Submission through the Visa Application Center

For the procedure, you must provide the following list of papers:

  • valid passport. It must be valid at least 180 days (on the day the documents are submitted to the consulate) with two blank pages;
  • two photographs (33 × 48 mm). We need rectangular without rounding, as well as colored ones on a white background;
  • completed questionnaire;
  • a photocopy of the Russian passport with the first page and registration.

On the first trip to China, the applicant will be required to have the following list of papers:

  • bank statement from a personal account. It must have a certain amount of money (at least 100 euro for every day or at least 50 thousand rubles* for one person);
  • if the applicant has two passports, then they must be submitted together.

Note! The visa center will independently prepare the entire package of documents and send it to the consulate.

Self-filing at the consulate

Before visiting the embassy, ​​you must prepare the following papers:

  • international passport;
  • 2 photographs;
  • a correctly completed form V. 2013;
  • itinerary program with ticket and hotel reservation, invitation;
  • insurance policy.

Important! If the applicant's place of birth indicates Central Asia or the Caucasus, he will have to additionally present a certificate of no criminal record, a copy of a birth certificate, documents from the place of work or a pension certificate.

The consulate has the right to additionally check the partial payment for the hotel or tickets when booking. If the applicant has submitted false information, then he will be refused a visa.

When traveling with minors, in addition to the main set of documents, you will have to additionally provide:

  • photocopy of birth certificate;
  • a copy of the document on consent to travel, if the child goes on a trip with a third party or one of the parents;
  • photocopies of the internal passports of each parent.

There are several nuances for obtaining a child visa that the consular staff may require:

  • if the father is written in according to the mother's words, then you need to provide a certificate from the registry office (form 25);
  • A photocopy of the court decision is provided in case of deprivation of parental rights (mother or father);
  • if the second parent is dead, a copy of the death certificate is required;
  • if the location of the second spouse is not established by the competent authorities, then papers from the police are needed (in the form established by law).

Free travel to China without a visa is not a myth, you can get into it, but only to places predetermined by the Chinese authorities. Registration of group visas for tourist trips also takes place without any problems (each should not exceed 9 people).

How much does it cost to get a visa

The cost depends on the type of visa documentation, the average consular fees are $ 35-90. The standard time for obtaining a permit does not exceed one week. If there is a need for an urgent trip, the process can be accelerated, but for this the consulate may require additional paperwork (when issuing separate admissions), and the price will become higher.

People living in Kazakhstan are more likely to have problems with visa processing. Free regime seats are available for them, and there will be questions with obtaining any type of permits. The problem is connected with the reluctance of the governments of the two states to accept foreigners on their land.
