Since the beginning of the massive use of television receivers, television has gradually become one of the most effective means of disseminating information among the population. Polish television makes it easy for Poles to learn about the most important events taking place in the country. At the same time, local television broadcasting is a means of popularizing Polish culture, as well as a way to support domestic audiovisual creativity.

History and features of Polish television

The Polish state television company Telewizja Polska, or TVP, was founded in 1992, but the foundation for its operation began to be laid back in the 40s of the twentieth century.

In 1935, the State Institute of Telecommunications was established, which, in cooperation with Polish radio, began the first television broadcasts.

In 1939, this organization was destroyed by German troops, but already in 1952, after the reorganization into Polskie Radio i Telewizja and the restoration of TV towers, the first post-war TV programs began to be broadcast.

Color TV broadcasts appeared in 1971, and on December 29, 1992, PRT was divided into Polish Radio and Polish Television. The first two programs of the new division were called TVP1 and TVP2. Along with the reforming of the TV company, its logo also changed.

TVP launched the first terrestrial digital duplicates of channels in 2021, and in 2021 the broadcasting of analog duplicates was completely stopped. Since then, digital television has been used predominantly in Poland.

Famous TV channels in Poland

Today the Polish television industry offers viewers a wide range of television broadcasts. In addition to public TV, there are also private providers on the market, for example, Cyfra + or Polsat, which provide subscribers with access to paid encrypted channels.

Often, service providers have in their arsenal package tariffs, according to which they connect the Internet and cable TV at the same time. This allows you to significantly reduce the tariff for subscribers. The cost of such packages does not exceed PLN 120.

Providers support IPTV technology, which makes TV broadcasting interactive and provides users with a set of additional services.

IPTV should not be confused with Internet TV as they are completely different technologies.

Below are the categories of Polish TV channels.

Conclusion

Television in Poland has come a long way of development, and today the teleservices market is one of the most progressive in the country. This is evidenced by both the variety of content on TV channels and the use of popular broadcasting methods - distribution via TV broadcasts, cable networks and satellite channels.
