Spain has become a real car manufacturing factory in recent years. Production for the domestic market, to order, assembly, a powerful secondary market - everything is delivered to the flow. And although mainly branches of renowned concerns - Renault, Volkswagen, Citroen and others, work here, the Spanish car industry also offers domestic developments - Seat, Tramontana, other popular brands, whose production plants are built in Madrid, Valladolid, Barcelona.
How developed is mechanical engineering in Spain
Spain is not considered a large industrial state, although there are many modern enterprises of various profiles here, which make a significant contribution to the country's GDP. Mechanical engineering is developed unevenly - there are few factories in this industry, and they mainly depend on foreign capital.
Experts believe that the most developed transport sector in the country is the production of cars and ships. Since 1979, Benimar has been producing motorhomes and vans. The main factory of the company is located in the town of Penisola, next to a beautiful medieval castle. Currently, more than 3,000 of these houses are produced per year. They are comfortable, beautiful and environmentally friendly. RVs are comfortable to live in while traveling and do not harm the environment.
The introduction of new technologies, the constant striving to be in the trend of the industry has led to the fact that mobile apartments produced by the car company are becoming more and more popular in the world. Despite the fact that the price of a motorhome is about 40 thousand euros, the demand for them is growing every year.
Aspid
At the beginning of the 21st century, the Spanish engineer and designer Fernandez decided to start producing cars that would combine the advantages of conventional and sports cars. The founder succeeded: minimum weight, increased level of safety, acceleration to 100 km per hour in three seconds - all these features allow the Aspid driver to feel like a sports car in the rhythm of the city.
During the London Motor Show, the Spanish car attracted special attention and received a lot of positive feedback. The price of new items starts at 95 thousand euros.
Abadal
Spanish craftsmen have also created vintage car brands that are in demand among collectors around the world. This is especially true of the famous Abadal, named after the famous racer of the beginning of the last century, Paco Abadal.
Back in 1912, the athlete founded an auto company in Barcelona, which passed from hand to hand, belonging either to the Belgian company Imperial, or to the Buick company.
The most recognizable model of the brand is considered the Abadal Buick 1923 - the pride of a private collection of vintage cars near Barcelona.
The Buick 1923 model was preserved in a single copy, but today it amazes with its design and technical characteristics. Abadal was discontinued in 1930.
Hispano suiza
Another legend of the Spanish car industry is the famous company Hispano Suiza, which at the beginning of the twentieth century created models of executive class cars, which even members of the royal family drove. Founded in 1904, the company existed until the early 40s, producing luxury sports and executive cars.
The model Hispano-Suiza H6, which won the Boisleau Cup in 1921, gained deserved popularity.
Cars of this model are purchased for private collections.
In the 30s of the twentieth century, the concern significantly reduced the production of cars, then carried out military orders, and after the war it ceased to exist. But until now, the designers do not give up hope to resume production of modern models of this type, although so far attempts are limited to exhibition samples.
How to buy a car in Spain
Foreign citizens, regardless of whether they are residents or not, are legally entitled to purchase a car in Spain. To make a purchase, citizens of the CIS must provide:

- driver's license;
- proof of registration at the place of residence or a document of ownership of real estate in the country.

Before buying a used car, it is important to check whether the car has been fined, whether road taxes have been paid, and the date of the last technical inspection.
Car rental is simpler: it is enough to present an international driver's license and a credit bank card, on which many companies block up to 500 euros as a deposit.
