Due to the spread of the coronavirus, Turkey has temporarily suspended the tourist season. According to NTV, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, who holds the post of Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey, shared information that the tourism season could be resumed by the end of May 2021.

Mehmet Nuri Ersoy said that towards the end of May, the spread of coronavirus will begin to decline. The head of the department believes that the current world situation should soon return to normal, and the borders of domestic tourism will open to visitors. After that, the country will welcome foreign guests.

According to the Minister of Culture and Tourism, after the outbreak of coronavirus infection subsides, first of all, residents from Asian countries, who were quarantined earlier than others, will rush to Turkey.

On April 17, it was reported that hotel owners were correlating the opening of the new tourist season with the plans of airlines to lift restrictions on flights. Some experts suggest that this event should take place in August or September. It is possible that the dates will be shifted to October. This is later than the government originally planned. Turkish hoteliers made their bets for the beginning of May, but their plans were not destined to come true.

Turkey closed all flights with other world states at the end of March due to the fight against coronavirus infection. According to the latest data, more than 78 thousand of those infected with the disease are officially registered in the country. The infection was fatal for 1.7 thousand patients.
