European citizens are planning to visit Russia en masse

A large number of tourists are planning to visit Russia in the next two years. This conclusion was made possible by the results of a study conducted by the NAFI analytical center.

The survey involved citizens of 27 European countries with a high rate of outbound tourism. A third of the participants announced that they intend to go to Russia in 2020-2021. Two thirds of European residents have never seen Russia. Most of the travelers who have already visited the Russian Federation are subjects of the post-Soviet space. The most rare guests of the Russian Federation (only 22%) are residents of southern and western Europe.

According to this study, citizens of the western part of Europe are least likely to visit the Russian Federation, and most often tourists from the post-Soviet space and eastern Europe. Most of the travelers are elderly people. 35% of those surveyed who are going to take a trip to the Russian Federation are people of 18-34 years old.

Most of the respondents who visited the Russian Federation liked the trip.

  • 10% of Europeans complained about the language barrier,
  • 15% - for an unfriendly attitude,
  • 35% were dissatisfied with the infrastructure and transport system,
  • 14% spoke of Russia as a dangerous country.
  • 20% of respondents do not want to go to Russia because of high prices,
  • 17% are attracted to other countries,
  • 15% stop transportation costs,
  • 9% are not going to visit Russia because of the current political situation in it.

More than a third of Russian tourists lack trips abroad. According to the poll of the Tutu.ru website, 25% of respondents are looking forward to the opportunity to visit other countries, 8% perceive the inability to travel as a real tragedy.
