According to the British publication The Sun, the bars of Europe's most fashionable and noisy resort may not survive the pandemic.

We are talking about establishments on the Spanish island of Ibiza, which is very popular with fans of large-scale festivals and round-the-clock parties. The tourist season on the island officially begins in March and ends in November, so most of the local businessmen are focused on tourists.

But this year, the entire tourism business was threatened with bankruptcy, since all flights until mid-June were canceled, and the country's authorities claim that the situation will not change, and businessmen can only rely on domestic tourism, which will resume after the epidemiological situation improves.

Entertainment executives believe many of the small bars and clubs struggling to survive the global quarantine could simply disappear this year. They will be forced to close if the flow of tourists is not restored in the coming months. The most resourceful owners have switched their establishments to online mode - parties have moved from bars to home, to video conferencing.

But there are also industries that cannot go online, such as the hospitality industry. Hotel owners are asking to waive the mandatory tourist tax, which can be around EUR 4 per person per night, depending on the hotel class. Businessmen believe that its cancellation will help attract tourist flows.

Most of the holidaymakers visiting Ibiza are citizens of Great Britain and Germany, but the first entry to the island will be closed until the end of summer. This decision was made by the Minister of Tourism of the Balearic Islands, which also includes Ibiza, since there are too many cases of coronavirus in the UK.
