Persons who are not citizens of the Russian Federation, with or without another citizenship, can enter the territory of Russia only with a visa (except in cases of a visa-free agreement). A business visa (business visa) is drawn up and issued on the basis of an invitation from the Russian side.

A business visa (OD) is issued to foreign citizens arriving to participate in international and domestic events, resolve trade and economic issues, provide services, conclude contracts, creative public speeches, etc.

Citizens of which countries get a permit

Types of business visas
Russian business visa is multiple and is issued for a specific period:

How to get a
A visa applicant must collect a full package of documents and submit it to a diplomatic mission, a consulate of the Russian Federation or a Russian visa center on the territory of his country.

Documents for an accompanying minor
A visa for a minor is not issued if it is entered in the parent's passport. But all information about him must be reflected in the petition and in the invitation for an adult.

Terms of registration
This procedure is given no more than 20 working days from the date of submission of a correctly assembled package of documents. In fact, a permit document is drawn up within 10 working days.
After accepting all the documentation and confirmed payment, the applicant is issued a receipt, which indicates the date of receipt of the permit. If the answer is negative, the payment will not be refunded.
Registration of an invitation
An invitation from the Russian side is the basis for considering the visa issue, its receipt is the initial stage before applying for a visa.
An invitation for a business visa is handled by a legal entity of the inviting party, accredited in the established manner by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the Main Directorate of Internal Affairs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on the territory of the Russian Federation.
An authorized representative of a legal entity collects documents and submits them to one of the departments:
- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia and its representative offices (Order of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation of 17.07.2012 No. 12077);
- GUVM of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and its subdivisions (Order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation dated 09.21.2017 No. 735).
In both cases, the decision rule is:
- 3 days - with urgent treatment;
- 14 days - highly qualified specialists;

Documents for submission
The set of documentation is the same for both departments:
- Application (own developed form of the form);
- Proof of identity of the inviting party;
- A copy of the invitee's external document;
- A letter of guarantee from the organization about the solution at its own expense of monetary, housing and medical issues;
- Copies of documents confirming kinship for “accompanying persons”;
- Confirmation of payment of state duty.
Foreign documents are translated into Russian and notarized.
MFA invitation in the form of a telex
In case of a positive decision, through the electronic channels of international special communications, the department sends an order to the Russian consulate in a foreign country, indicated in the application, to issue a visa - an invitation by telex. The foreigner does not receive a form, but information about the unique invitation number, which he will enter in the visa application form.
Ministry of Internal Affairs invitation
The Migration Department prints the invitation on a special form with an automatic assignment of a unique number.
The form indicates:
- Visitor's personal data;
- The multiplicity and duration of the visa;
- All information about the trip.
The invitation is forwarded to the authorized representative of the calling party, who sends the original by express mail to the invitee.
Electronic documents can be sent through the State Services portal.In this case, the invitation will be sent to the Personal Account.
Organization invitation
It is drawn up on the letterhead of the organization and looks like an application to the Russian consulate in a foreign country for the issuance of a permit to the invitee. Upon receipt of such a letter of invitation, the consulate, through its own channels, verifies the identity of a citizen of another country and makes a decision on the issue or refusal of a permit document.
Extension of a visa
If necessary and documentary evidence, the Federal Migration Service of the Russian Federation can extend a multiple-entry visa for 10 days, if the period of stay has not been violated 90 days every 180 days.
There is an option to extend the visa at the border office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for 3 days.
You can extend the permit document by contacting the Ministry of Internal Affairs before its expiration date, in the following cases:
- Disaster;
- Loss of a passport;
- Disease.

After crossing the border on a business visa, a citizen of another country is given 7 working days, to notify the territorial office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of your arrival for further registration.
