Many countries are already preparing for the opening of the tourist season after the end of the quarantine, including Spain. One of the most popular holiday destinations in this country is the island of Mallorca (translated from Spanish - "The largest").

The Spanish island attracts tourists not only with its rich and varied nature: pine forests on the mountain slopes, endless valleys and incredible beauty of the Mediterranean bays and sandy beaches, and a favorable climate, where even in the middle of summer there is no sweltering heat. Traditionally, the tourist season lasts from April to October, and the peak flow of tourists falls in July-August.

However, in 2021, due to the pandemic, Spain made numerical innovations in various industries, including tourism. According to information from the Euro Weekly News newspaper, domestic tourism on the island will begin no earlier than August.

Currently, local hoteliers are introducing new rules for serving customers in the post-pandemic period: with respect for social distancing, both on the territory of the hotel and on the beach and in the restaurant, with sanitizing and disinfecting all surfaces, and providing employees with personal protective equipment.

“They [local hoteliers] will be able to receive tourists again as soon as possible,” the newspaper writes. The first wave of tourists to Palma, the capital of the island, is expected in August. At first, these will be local tourists, they will help travel and hotel companies to survive.

The date and month of the opening of external tourism, while nothing is known: this will happen only after the opening of the borders. Recall that the annual influx of tourists to the island was 12 million, of which the majority are Germans, French, British and Swiss, and how many foreign visitors this year is still unknown.

A representative of the Palma Tourism Office said that tourism is the main income in this city and that the current situation will negatively affect the economy of the industry, but the authorities are optimistic and ready to "move forward and improve the tourist offer in the future."
