Flights from Makhachkala to Tyumen and St. Petersburg are resumed after the suspension of the full operations of UTair due to the coronavirus epidemic.
Murad Shamsutdinov, acting as assistant to the general director of Makhachkala airport, made a report on the start of flights by UTair on the Makhachkala-Tyumen route, starting from May 17.

It is planned to carry out regular flights by Boeing-737-500 vessels. Their passenger capacity is designed for 116 people. Routes in the schedule for May are determined on Fridays and Sundays, for June - on Tuesdays and Sundays.

An explanation is posted on the official website that such a route is necessary for Dagestani residents. There is a large Dagestan diaspora in Tyumen. Many do not have a direct connection with their distant homeland. A direct flight will contribute to the growth of passenger traffic, will allow close relatives and friends who are far from Dagestan to communicate more often.

In addition, the UTair press service announced that a similar flight is planned to be carried out to St. Petersburg. It is expected to resume on May 22.
The air flight St. Petersburg-Makhachkala will be carried out by Boeing-737-500 vessels, designed for 126 people. Departure from St. Petersburg at 12-55, from Makhachkala - 17-10. These flights are supposed to be carried out on Mondays and Fridays.

The press service of the President of "Utair - Passenger Airlines" Pavel Permyakov reported that the reduction in flights was caused by an outbreak of coronavirus infection. The speedy restoration of flights depends on the demand from the population after a period of self-isolation. If necessary, the planned summer flights will be implemented.
The airline complies with all sanitary requirements for the safety of passengers and crew while on board. Aircraft are disinfected daily. The ships are provided with protective medical masks and antibacterial wipes.

Utair Airlines is one of the top ten leaders in terms of passenger traffic. Among its shareholders are AK-invest (50.1%), the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug (38.8%) and the Tyumen Region (8.4%), which are the structures of Surgutneftegaz.

According to the analytical system "SPARK-Interfax" JSC "Makhachkala International Airport" is the property of Said Kerimov, son of Suleiman Kerimov, Senator of the Federation Council from Dagestan. At one time, the campaign belonged to Nafta-Moscow, which won the privatization tender in 2021 and belonged to Kerimov the father. The cost of the tender was about 300 million rubles. Before the coronavirus pandemic, passenger traffic through the Makhachkala airport during the first four months of 2021 amounted to 363.4 thousand people, which is 20.8% less than the same period last year.
