From May 22, citizens of the European Union and the Schengen area will be able to fly to Bulgaria. Earlier, due to the outbreak of coronavirus, Bulgaria closed its borders in mid-March. Citizens of the country crossing the borders and entering foreign diplomats were required to undergo mandatory quarantine for two weeks.

WHO has announced the adoption of COVID-19 as a pandemic, and states have begun to take measures to combat the spread of the new virus. Many of them have closed borders and cut flights.

Now, from the end of May, European citizens will be able to come to Bulgaria if they wish. And if a European has arrived in Bulgaria for no more than a week, there will be no need to undergo quarantine. International tourism is gradually resuming in Bulgaria, but so far in a short-term form. For the rest of those who come to a warm country, it is still necessary to undergo a two-week quarantine.

Also in the Decree there are several categories of persons exempted from quarantine after arriving in Bulgaria. All citizens who do not need to go through self-isolation will have to provide the border guards monitoring the sanitary control standards with declarations on the careful observance of the measures established in the country to combat the pandemic.

Also, Bulgaria has already begun to soften its borders with neighboring countries: Greece, Romania and Serbia.
