For those planning to visit Canada, it turns out to be a big surprise when a visa is denied. The practice of making a negative decision is common in the Canadian embassy and reaches half of all applications. To get approval, you need to be very careful about collecting documents for a visa.

Main list of securities

The country's authorities provide foreigners with several types of entry permits, but they are all divided into 2 large groups:

  1. Temporary resident - this includes tourist, guest, transit and other types of visas;
  2. Permanent resident.

Each category requires the collection of an extensive list of documents.

Temporary resident visa

For a temporary resident visa you need:

  • Main questionnaire (form IMM 5257);

  • Application form with information about the applicant's family (form MM5645E);

  • Photo in the amount of two pieces (they can be color or monochrome);

  • Certificate of Consent to Provide Temporary Work (only required for employment in Quebec).

Study Visa with Education Permit

A student permit to study in Canada is issued only if a long-term stay in the country is planned. Short-term courses are not a reason to open a study visa.

It is important that the student applies only to officially registered universities, otherwise he will be refused a visa. The main package of securities includes:

  • Main questionnaire (form IMM 5257);
  • Application form with information about the applicant's family (form MM5645E);

  • Family reunification;
  • Desire to do business;
  • Seeking refuge;
  • A rare specialty in demand in the profession.

General requirements

Canadian authorities require strict adherence to the rules for filling out and processing documents. The slightest deviation from them will be the reason for the refusal to issue a visa.

The general requirements include the following:

  • All papers require translation into English or French;
  • Translation can only be done by specialized bureaus;
  • The translated documents are printed on letterhead with the bureau stamp;
  • Medical insurance is not included in the list of required papers, but it significantly increases the chances of getting a positive answer (it is important that the amount of insurance compensation is not less than 40,000 Canadian dollars).

When submitting an application, it is better to collect the most complete package of documents. The embassy appreciates visa applicants who can give an answer to any question that has not even been voiced.

Photo requirements

Pictures provided to the embassy must be taken no later than six months. Photos are taken according to certain rules:

  • Size 35 by 45;
  • Light background;
  • Neutral facial expression;
  • Lack of accessories and hats;
  • The face is positioned in the center of the picture.

If the application is submitted in paper form, then on the back of the photo you need to write:

  • FULL NAME.;
  • Applicant's date of birth.

Requirements for a certificate from the place of work

Many of our compatriots are requesting a certificate according to the same template that is suitable for a Schengen visa.

But for a Canadian permit, more information is required:

  • Length of service in the company;
  • Detailed report on the activities of the organization;
  • Date of opening of the company;
  • A note about the applicant's vacation period, which must coincide with the travel dates.

It is advisable to attach advertising brochures of the company and other materials to the certificate. Employer data is extremely important for Canadian officials, so it is necessary to collect as much as possible.

Requirements for Proof of Financial Solvency

To open a visa, it is not enough to make one bank statement. You can prove your financial independence with the help of:

  • Letters of guarantee;
  • Credit cards;
  • Payment orders;
  • Checks for large purchases made in the last 6 months, and so on.

The more papers will be provided, the less suspicions about a possible non-return to their homeland will arise among officials.

Requirements for confirming ticket and hotel reservations

To reduce the risk of refusal, you need to not only copy tickets or make scans of them, but also fully schedule your route. The applicant must describe the places he wishes to visit with an indication of their opening hours.

If you intend to visit several cities, then in each of them you will have to book a hotel in advance.

Additional documents depending on the purpose of the trip and for certain categories of applicants

Different categories of applicants must provide additional documents to the main package of papers.

For parents and grandparents who want to visit their children and grandchildren

A visa for this group of foreigners is given for 2 years and requires the submission of:

  • Invitations (it can be issued by children or grandchildren);
  • Proof of family ties;
  • Proof of income of the inviting person;
  • Medical policy (it must be valid for 12 months).

For travel for tourism purposes

Without itinerary details, Canadian authorities will not issue a tourist visa. Therefore, these documents should describe the movements of the foreigner in as much detail as possible.

For a private visit (guest visa by invitation)

The main package of documents must be supplemented with an official invitation. It can be sent by a citizen of the country or any other person who is legally in Canada.

For short-term courses

A foreigner must be provided with a paper from an educational institution confirming enrollment in courses and their payment in full.

For a business visit

The interested party must make an invitation in the name of the entrepreneur on letterhead, indicating the purpose of the visit. For this, the following are suitable:

  • Action plan;
  • Copies of business correspondence;
  • Preliminary agreements.

It will not be superfluous to indicate who bears the costs of travel within the country.

For traveling with children

A full package of documents is provided for a child of any age. The questionnaire is filled in by one of the parents with a handwritten signature.

For a visa application, documents of those children who have their own foreign passport can be submitted.

If a minor goes on a trip with only one of the parents, then the other must provide a power of attorney. It is drawn up in the presence of a notary and certified by him.

The procedure for the formation of a package of documents and the need to comply with it

All documents that are included in the mandatory and additional list must be submitted to the embassy without fail. Canadian officials will refuse a visa when there is the slightest doubt about the applicant's candidacy. Therefore, any reason in the eyes of the embassy staff is a good reason for refusal.

Instructions for filling out a visa application form

All applications are filled in electronically only. Papers filled after printing will not be accepted for consideration. Any mistakes made during the completion of the questionnaire can be corrected before printing it. If a misspell or mistake is noticed later, then the document needs to be completely redone.

Filling out the questionnaire form IMM 5257 takes place in French or English. The document itself consists of several blocks, in each of which you need to enter the most detailed information:

  • Personal information (full name, maiden name, gender, date and place of birth, country of citizenship and residence, status in the country of residence, marital status with information about the spouse, information about the ex / ex-spouse);

  • Languages (indication of the native language, describe the level of proficiency in English and French, the results of the certified language proficiency test - if one was carried out);
  • Passport (full list of information from the identity card);
  • Contact information (postal and actual addresses, telephone number - main and auxiliary, fax, e-mail);

  • Information about your stay in Canada (purpose of the visit, dates of entry and exit, travel budget, list of places to visit);

  • Reference information (information about diseases, visa refusals, convictions, connections with political parties, service in government agencies);

  • Signature (when submitting an application electronically, it is not required);

Design methods

Each department has its own nuances of submitting paperwork for a visa.

Through the embassy

If the applicant lives in the capital, he can submit papers to the Canadian Embassy. But this is only possible if you obtain a permanent resident visa.

The transfer of documents takes place in person by appointment. You do not need to bring your passport to the embassy. A copy of it will be enough to make a decision. Officials of the department will request the original if the application is approved.

Contacting Visa Application Centers

Applicants from Moscow apply to the EC by appointment; in other cities, admission is carried out on a first-come, first-served basis.

There are two ways to transfer papers:

  • Personally;
  • By courier mail.

Each option has its own algorithm of actions.

A personal visit is structured as follows:

  1. Choice of city and office;
  2. Visit to the institution;
  3. Receiving a coupon;
  4. Transfer of a complete package of papers to office employees;
  5. Payment of consular fees through terminals;
  6. Waiting for a decision.

If the documents needed to receive the cherished insert in the passport are sent via courier mail, then the scheme of actions will be as follows:

  1. Payment of all fees;
  2. Payment for courier services;
  3. Copying receipts and including originals of receipts in the general package;
  4. Transfer of papers to couriers;
  5. Notification of the Moscow Air Register of sending documents to the address [email protected] (you must specify information about the courier service, invoice number);
  6. Waiting for the registration number of the application (it is sent by e-mail).

To apply to the VZ, you will need an original foreign passport.

Through the Internet

This method is very popular, as not every applicant can come to the city where the Canada Visa Application Center is located. But the application procedure itself is lengthy and multi-stage.

To apply for a visa, you must:

  1. Go to the website of the Department of Citizenship and Immigration Canada;
  2. Pass the test by which the program will determine the type of visa required;
  3. Get a code - it will give access to the required questionnaires and a list of documents (the code is valid for 3 months);
  4. Scan all available documents;
  5. Upload photos and scans (PDF, DOC, JPG, TIFF, PNG are acceptable);
  6. Create your own account in the system and get an access code;
  7. Fill out the questionnaires and save them;
  8. Pay the consular fee using a bank card;
  9. Send a request.

After the performed manipulations, the applicant has several more important stages:

  1. Receiving an e-mail with confirmation of acceptance of documents (it must be printed);
  2. Waiting for a decision.

Upon approval of the application, a month is given to provide a passport to the consular department.

Visa waiting time after submission of documents

It is better to submit an application six months before the trip, as the Canadian authorities often change the processing time of applications. To date, the duration of the decision is about a month.

If the specified period has passed, and the applicant has not received a response, then the consulate has made a negative decision. Often, the refusal never reaches the addressee, either in paper or electronic form.

The process of obtaining a Canadian visa is extremely difficult, therefore, to get to know the country, you need to collect an extensive list of documents and be extremely careful. Although this does not guarantee the approval of the application.
