In the process of selecting students for their training in prestigious educational institutions, much attention is paid to the submitted motivation letters of candidates. Often, a well-written rationale takes precedence over letters of recommendation and even ratings.

Sample letter of motivation

Motivational messages do not imply a strictly established template and form. A sample application from an applicant who plans to enroll in a foreign university discloses the following aspects of the information about the candidate:

  • Curriculum Vitae;
  • Argumentation of interest in the chosen specialization;
  • Explanation of the choice of this institution as the desired place of study;
  • Narration about professional and career plans in the future;
  • Direct appeal to the selection committee of the university.

Recommended document size - 800-1200 characters... However, even such short texts, written in an excessively dry language, do not motivate the commission to read them to the end.

What is the document for?

  • Why is it important for an applicant to get a specialty at a particular university?
  • Why is he an ideal candidate for admission to his chosen faculty?

Through a story about himself, a potential student explains his personal motives in choosing a future profession, and also convinces the commission of the advantages of his candidacy.

How is a motivational appeal drawn up

The document is drawn up in the first person in the national language of the state where the university is located (it can be written in English).

When writing a message, you should adhere to the recommended narrative structure:

  1. The header of the appeal must contain the address details of the university indicating the faculty and specialty, the name of the document;
  2. Further, a brief biographical information about the applicant is submitted: place of birth, study, experience of participation in competitive events. The author tells about personal professional interests in the context of the chosen specialization;
  3. The main part of the narration should answer: how, in the opinion of the applicant, studying at a particular university will help to realize professional and career plans after receiving a diploma;
  4. The presentation in the text should lead to argumentation: why the applicant deserves to be enrolled in students. It is important to pay attention to real personal qualities;
  5. The end of the document contains a word of thanks from the commission for the time taken to consider the appeal and the author's signature.
