Persons without citizenship have the right to stay on the territory of the Russian Federation for a limited time. To extend this period, you need to submit an application to the department of the FMS.

Grounds for extension

Extension is possible if the foreigner:

• Enrolls in or enrolled in a Russian university;
• Issues a labor patent;
• Receives a temporary residence permit or residence permit;
• Has entered into an employment contract;
• Awaiting the extension of the work visa;
• He is being treated or rehabilitated and cannot return to his homeland due to his health.

Filling out an application

There is no special form, the application is written in any form. However, the application must contain:

• Cap - to whom and from whom the document is submitted;
• Main part - a request to extend the period of stay and all the necessary information about a foreign citizen;
• Date and signature.

The following information is entered into the main part:

• How long does it take to extend;
• For what reason;
• Full name of the applicant;
• Date of Birth;
• Citizenship;
• Place of Birth;
• Date of arrival in the Russian Federation and the name of the checkpoint through which the entry was made;
• Purpose of arrival;
• Migration card data;
• Passport data;
• Address of the future stay;
• Full name of the person with whom the residence will be carried out;
• Date of birth and place of birth of the person with whom the foreigner will live;
• Passport data of this person;
• Name and address of the organization, if the inviting party was a legal entity.

At the end, it is worth informing that the guest is familiar with the migration rules, sanctions for their violation and undertakes to comply with them.

Where to submit documents

The application must be sent to the department of the migration service closest to the address of the future residence. It can be delivered by a foreign guest himself or by his authorized representative. The package can be sent by registered mail with acknowledgment of receipt.

Additional documents

The application must be accompanied by originals and copies:

• Foreigner's identity card;
• Papers proving the right to continue to be present on the territory of the state or which is the basis in itself;
• Certificates confirming the impossibility of leaving the country within the agreed period - if available.

Terms of consideration

The FMS is obliged to make a decision on the application within 3 working days. Employees will either approve the renewal of registration or refuse, giving a notice to the applicant.

Possibility of failure

It is possible to get a ban on prolongation of stay if:

• False data will be found in the petition;
• In the past, there have been violations of migration laws;
• A foreigner has been banned from entering Russia;
• A citizen who studied at the university was expelled.

When the established period of stay ends, the foreigner needs to renew the registration in order to stay in the country legally. This can be done by submitting an application to the FMS.
