Famous spa town Cannes became thanks to the Englishman, lord Henry Broome... Usually an English aristocrat preferred to rest in Nice, but in 1834 a plague broke out in the vicinity of the resort, and he decided to stay in one of the French villages. Broom liked the place chosen for rest so much that he built a house here and began to actively invite friends. Cannes soon became a popular European resort.
