Poland is a good country to live and organize a business. But one should work in the RP legally. For this, in particular, it is necessary to register with various government agencies and obtain identification numbers. This article will discuss what a Regon number is.

What identification numbers are there in Poland

The assignment of digital signs to people and organizations is a global trend, since it greatly facilitates computer processing of information. And Poland is no exception. The following identification codes are assigned in the country:

  • PESEL. All individuals living in Poland are required to obtain this code. For example, migrants receive it when applying for a residence permit. However, the code is not issued as a separate document, so if you are asked for it, you only need to name the number without presenting the paper. Find out more about how the PESEL number is assigned and what it is for.
  • NIP - individual taxpayer number. This code must be assigned to both individuals and legal entities.
  • REGON. All business entities, including entrepreneurs, are required to register with the Rejestr Gospodarki Narodowej - the national register of economic entities maintained by the Main Department of Statistics of the Republic of Poland. It was the abbreviation of these Polish words that gave the name to the code - REGON. This identification number also does not have the form of a document, which, if necessary, can be presented. This code is necessary for running a business, regardless of whether the entrepreneur wants to deal with it individually or is going to create a legal entity.

Initially, REGON consisted of seven digits. However, then two more numbers were added to it, denoting the region. For example, 97 stands for Zelenogursky Voivodeship, and 01 is assigned to Warsaw Voivodeship.

The seven main digits of the REGON registration code are six digits of the serial number and one verification digit.

However, there are 14-digit REGON codes. Such designations are given to companies doing business not in one region, but in the territory of several Polish voivodeships. The first 9 digits in this code are the same as the parent REGON number.

Ways to get a REGON number

The classic way to get a REGON code is to contact a Polish notary who will help you carry out this procedure. The first step towards obtaining this identification number is the registration of an entrepreneur or company in the National Court Register (KRS).

With an extract confirming registration in KRS and a completed RG-1 form, you should go to the district court, which will assign the number.

However, you can get this code in a more modern way - using the Internet. To do this, you need to submit an application for registration of a legal entity through the website of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Poland (RP). Simultaneously with the registration of the company, it will be assigned the codes REGON, NIP and registered with the KRS.

A similar registration is also available for individuals who intend to engage in entrepreneurial activities in Poland. To do this, you need to register on the website of individual entrepreneurs CEIDG and fill out the CEIDG-1 form. The REGON number will be assigned along with the registration of the individual entrepreneur.

How to use the REGON code to verify employers

There are now plenty of job advertisements in the Republic of Poland, including on the websites of the CIS countries. Most of our compatriots, who took advantage of them and went to Poland, do not regret their decision at all. However, there are frequent cases of deception. Therefore, there is a natural desire to check the employer before going to work abroad.

This can be done on the website of the Main Department of Statistics of the Republic of Poland.

By specifying in the search bar one of the numbers - REGON, NIP and / or KRS - you can get information about the company.

At the same time, you should be alarmed by the discrepancy between the profile of the company and the job offered to you. For example, if a computer company offers you a job at a construction site, it’s better not to contact such a company.

REGON and NIP numbers must be indicated in the invitation from the employer. If you are just considering the possibility of contacting a specific company, specify the information you are interested in by using a search engine and indicating the name of the company.

Finally

If you intend to be self-employed in Poland or register a company, you should obtain a REGON number. If all the necessary parameters are met, it is not at all difficult to do this in Poland.
