The traveler faced with the task of how to get from Berlin to Copenhagen has several options. You can use various types of transport: car, train, plane, bus. In addition, you may have to take a car ferry on the way. Depending on the purpose of the trip, as well as on financial possibilities, you can choose the most convenient, fastest or cheapest way to get from the German capital to the Danish one.
All possible ways
The distance from Berlin to Copenhagen is 438.5 km if you travel by car to Rostock and then by ferry. It can be overcome in six and a half hours.
As you know, the capital of Denmark is located on the island of Zealand, connected with the Jutland Peninsula, on which most of the Danish territory is located, with many bridges with modern autobahns. So, despite the Baltic Sea separating the Danish capital from the mainland, it is possible to get to Copenhagen by a “detour” and only by land.
The most convenient option is a direct flight, which will take less than an hour.
However, you still have to get from Berlin to Berlin Tegel airport, and after landing at Danish Kastrup airport, take the metro to Copenhagen - from the Lufthavnen metro station, located near the airport, the capital of Denmark is 15-20 minutes away. An international transfer will take you over an hour, so the total travel time is 2 hours 40 minutes.
The cheapest option is to take a bus from Alexanderplatz directly to the capital of the Danish Kingdom and arrive in Copenhagen in eight and a half hours, taking into account the ferry ride. Ferry transportation between Germany and Denmark is included in the fare and does not require additional payment.

How to get there by train
There are many train routes that take you from the German capital to Copenhagen by train. However, in all cases, you will have to go with a change in Hamburg, from where six direct trains leave daily from 7.00 to 23.00.
Travel time is 5 hours. The overnight train will take you to the capital of Denmark in 7 hours. Ticket prices range from 30 to 80 euros.
In order to get from Berlin to Hamburg, you can use the following options:
- From Berlin Central Station Berlin Hbf (tief) you can take Deutsche Bahn trains that leave for Hamburg every 30-60 minutes. Travel time takes from 1 hour 40 minutes to 2 hours. Ticket prices range from 25 to 70 euros.
- There is also a more budgetary option offered by the same company. This train departs on weekdays at 5.21 a.m. and arrives in Hamburg at 7.21 a.m., en route for 1 hour 54 minutes. A ticket for this train costs 190 euros.
- There is also a night train EN 300 Berlin-Malmö operated by Snalltaget with a transfer in the Swedish city of Malmö. Departures on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 18.55. The journey to Malmö will take 12 hours and 30 minutes. At Malmö Central station, you need to change to the train to Copenhagen, which runs every hour, and in 34 minutes you will be in Denmark. The total time to be spent on the road, taking into account the waiting time for a transfer, is 14 hours. This route will cost € 84 on weekdays and € 65 on weekends.

But before going on a train journey, you first need to get to Berlin Hbf (tief) - Berlin Central Station. You can get there by train (S-Bahn) with five routes: S5, S7, S9, S75.
If you take the subway (U-Bahn), take the U-55 line. Bus lines also lead to the station: М41, М85, TXL, 120, 123, 147, 240, 245, N20, N40.
How to get there by bus
Direct bus N 232 of the FlixBus operates daily from Berlin Alexanderplatz to Denmark. It is on the way 8 hours 35 minutes. and arrives at Copenhagen Central Station.
Ticket prices range from 20 to 65 euros. It should be noted that buses go to Copenhagen from Alexanderplatz more often than from anywhere else in Berlin. However, this is not the only place from where you can leave the German capital for the Kingdom of Denmark.

There are 4 direct bus routes from the Central Station of the German capital to Copenhagen, costing from 20 euros. They leave at 2.00, 7.40, 11.20 and 23.20.

By plane
You can fly to Denmark from two airports - Tegel and Schoenefeld, and from the first it will be faster to get to Copenhagen. Flights between Berlin and Copenhagen are operated by 4 companies: EasyJet, SAS, Air Berlin and Norwegian Air Shuttle.
- To reach Tegel Airport, take the Txl bus at the Invaliden Park stop in western Berlin and drive within 20 minutes to the Flughafen Tegel stop. Buses on this route leave every 10 minutes.
The most economical way to fly to Copenhagen is by daily direct flight. The plane leaves Berlin at 20:15 and exactly 1 hour 10 minutes later. arrives in the capital of Denmark. The ticket price is 90 euros.
Another plane leaves at 12.45. Depending on the specific date, tickets for this flight can cost from 50 to 380 euros.

Upon arrival at Copenhagen airport, you need to take the 029 train line at the CPH Lufthavn station, located directly opposite the airport - and in 14 minutes you are in Copenhagen.

- To get to Schönefeld Airport, you must take the Rb bus at the Berlin Alexanderplatz stop, which departs every hour, and travel 25 minutes to the Berlin-Schönefeld Flughafen stop. From there you fly to Copenhagen airport and get to the city using the same 29th train. The total travel time in this case will be 3 hours 50 minutes.
- The most optimal flight from Schönefeld: departure daily at 7.35, arrival in the capital of Denmark exactly 1 hour later. 05 minutes The ticket price is 30 euros.
There are several low-cost airlines for 35 euros: at 5.40, 7.05 and 8.50. Tickets for such flights must be booked long before departure - it happens that even a couple of weeks before departure it is difficult to get a cheap ticket.
By own or rented car
On the highway, taking into account the ferry crossing, the distance between the capitals is 440 km.
The journey lasts 6 hours 35 minutes:
- First, you drive north from Berlin towards the Baltic Sea along the E 55 to the port of Rostock.
- There you need to take the Rostock - Gedser ferry, which sails to Denmark for about two hours. The ferry operates 11 flights a day.
- Then, near the small town of Nykobing, you need to turn onto the E49 highway, which will lead directly to Copenhagen.
Alternatively, head west to Hamburg on the E-26, E-47 and E-55. After passing this old Hanseatic city, you will reach another ferry crossing Puttgarden - Redby. At this point, the crossing lasts only 45 minutes, so the ferry makes 48 flights per day.True, following this path, you will drive an extra 100 km.
From a financial point of view, such a trip will cost about 110-130 euros, of which half will go to fuel, and the other to pay for the ferry. When paying for the latter, your age matters, how much baggage you carry, whether you carry pets.
However, this option is still not the worst, because if you bypass the ferry crossing, in addition to increasing the length of the path and, accordingly, fuel consumption, you will also have to pay for travel on bridges.
