An application for a visa to Italy is a list of questions regarding the identity of a foreign citizen intending to travel to this European state. On the basis of the information received, the consul decides on whether to grant the applicant the right of entry to the applicant on Italian territory. But the verdict of the state representative will depend on the correctness and completeness of filling out the questionnaire.

Types of Italian visas

Italy is one of the most visited European countries and a favorite tourist destination among Russians. In this regard, it is important to know that there have been no changes in the migration legislation of both countries - the Russian Federation and Italy - recently. That is, to travel (regardless of the purpose of the visit), you will certainly need a visa.

Taking into account the belonging of the Italian state to the Schengen zone, it can be concluded that the permission to enter its territory will need exactly the Schengen type.

Only those Russians who already have Schengen in their passports issued by another state are not required to issue a visa. But only on condition that Italy will not be the country of first entry under this stamp, and the number of days that are planned to be spent in it will not exceed the period of travel in the country that issued this visa.

Crossing the Italian border can serve a variety of purposes. Based on this, the type of visa that the guest will need is determined.

All visa permits to enter Italy can be divided into 2 groups:

  • Schengen C categories - short-term, allowing a stay in the country for no more than 90 days in each half of the year;
  • national categories D - endow foreigners with broader rights (for example, they allow them to get a job) and allow a longer stay on the territory of the state.

The first group includes 4 types of visas:

  1. Tourist - allows entry for the purpose of recreation, treatment, sightseeing.
  2. Transit - issued to those for whom Italy is only a transfer point for a flight to a third country.
  3. Guestbook - issued at the invitation of relatives or friends.
  4. Business - designed for those who often make business trips in order to establish contacts with business partners.

All these visas can be single, double or multiple, allowing respectively 1 entry, 2 or more.

National visas are issued to those who plan to work in Italy, reunite with relatives, study at a local university. This type of visa permit gives the right to further legalization in the country (obtaining a residence permit).

We fill out the questionnaire

You can fill out the application form for obtaining a visa permit for entry of category C in Italian, English or Russian using transliteration. The application for a national visa is only submitted in Italian. In this case, the following rules must be observed:

  1. The surname and first name must be written exactly as in the foreign passport.
  2. The maiden name must be rewritten from the birth certificate in Latin.
  3. There is no need to translate addresses and abbreviations - they just need to be transliterated.
  4. A separate form must be completed for each applicant, including the child.
  5. All information should be presented in block capital letters. At subsequent stages, the questionnaire will be read by a special device, and if the system fails to recognize the letters, the consul may reject your application. You can download the form on the portal of the Italian diplomatic mission.
  1. Use a blue ink pen to fill.

In 2021, it is allowed to submit a handwritten form. An online application for an Italian visa is also available on the consulate website. To fill it, you can use the font Arial, 10 pt. If your computer is unable to tick the required application windows, do it by hand after you print the document.

All information provided by you must be correct. Each fact must certainly be confirmed with appropriate papers.

Consulate representatives will be sure to check what will be indicated in the questionnaire with what is contained in the documents. In order to verify the information, they can call the specified work numbers, and if they turn out to be incorrect, the chances of approval of the application will be reduced to zero.

You need to print the questionnaire on A4 sheets on both sides.

Now we will analyze step by step how to fill out the questionnaire yourself:

  1. The first thing to enter is personal information. They can simply be copied from the passport. When changing the surname in point No. 2, you need to list all the previous ones separated by a space. Date of birth is indicated with a hyphen: day-month-year. Put a “check” or “cross” in the required window of the question about marital status and gender.
  2. Many have doubts about points 5, 6, 7: place and country of birth, current and previous citizenship. In fact, everything is very simple here. Question # 5 - Write down the locality or area in which you were born. Question number 6 - indicate the name of the country in which you were born at that time. Example: before 1991 - the USSR, after - the Russian Federation. Question number 7: indicate your current citizenship and, if you were born in the USSR, your previous one.
  3. The tenth point is for minors. Here you need to specify information about the parents: address of residence, citizenship, full name.
  4. Question 11 can be skipped, since Russians are not assigned an identification code. The same applies to point No. 18. It is filled out only by those who live in Russia, but are citizens of another state.
  5. Clauses 12-16 contain information about your overseas identity card: series and number, by whom and when issued, expiration date. The name of the organ is indicated as follows: GUVD 654.
  6. Item number 17: enter the address of residence and the address of a valid e-mail address, the phone number on which you can really get through.
  7. Question No. 19 requires the introduction of information about the position held or social status. For example, an unemployed person, a student, a schoolboy, or a pensioner.
  8. The twentieth question concerns the place of work. Enter here the name of the company, its address and contact phone number. If we are talking about students and students, then we need information about the university or school. This section is not required for pensioners and preschoolers.
  9. From 21st to 25th point - information about the trip. Here you need to indicate the purpose of the visit, the country of entry, the country through which the entry will be made, the multiplicity of the visa, the number of days that you intend to spend in the target state.
  10. In the 26th section, it should be indicated whether you received Schengen before. If yes, then indicate the period of its validity (from… to…). In point # 27, mark if you were fingerprinted. If so, a date should be put in.
  11. The 28th point is intended for those who transit through Italy. You need to enter information about the authority that issued the visa to the country of destination, as well as the period of validity of the stamp (from ... to ...).
  12. Clauses 29 and 30: dates of entry and exit from the Schengen area.
  13. In sections 31 and 32, you need to enter information about the inviting party. If you are visiting without an invitation, you just need to indicate the name of the hotel, its location and telephone number.
  14. Question No. 33 concerns the financial security of the trip. Indicate who will cover the upcoming costs: the applicant himself or the sponsor. If you will pay the expenses, please indicate in what way; if a sponsor, you need to designate who exactly will act in his person.
  15. In the 34th and 35th sections, it is necessary to inform whether a family member who is a citizen of the designated areas lives in the EU, the Common Economic Space or Switzerland, and whether you are related to anyone living there.
  16. In the 36th paragraph, indicate the date of filling and the place of your stay. For example, Moscow 14-10-2018.
  17. In the box at number 37, put your signature.

Then there are three sections that you just need to read and confirm. They relate to the following aspects:

  • you know that in case of a visa refusal, the visa fee will not be refunded to you;
  • you are aware that you need health insurance to stay in the EU;
  • you confirm that all information that you have provided on this form is correct;
  • you agree to leave the Schengen area as soon as your visa expires;
  • you know that a visa permit is only one of the conditions for crossing the border. The final decision will be made by the border service.

At the very bottom of the page, as confirmation that you agree with all of the above, put the date, place of filling out the questionnaire and your signature again.

A sample of filling out a visa application form will help to fill in the information correctly.
