Every car enthusiast at the end of the summer and winter seasons is wondering about finding new tires for his car. Favorable prices and a wide range of models are the main reasons why a large number of citizens of Ukraine, Belarus and the Russian Federation go to the Republic of Poland to buy. However, when planning a trip to buy goods, you should carefully study the local market in order to know where to buy tires in Poland in the most profitable way and how to take them home without any problems.

Rules for the import and export of car tires

Car tires are among the goods purchased for personal use. The procedure for their import and export is regulated by Presidential Decree No. 40, which entered into force on April 14, 2021, as well as by a number of other regulatory legal acts. In accordance with them, the following standards for the import / export of tires continue to apply for 2021:

  1. The number of rubber sets allowed for export.

Within two years, one car can be purchased by a foreign citizen and exported from Poland, no more than one sets of rubber (four tires for each wheel).

This does not take into account the seasonality, and you will need to choose which set of tires you need most: winter or summer.

If you own three cars, you can take out three sets of rubber from Poland in two years, one for each car. Thus, it is not possible for a private person to purchase goods in bulk.

  1. Cost and weight limit.

To take the purchased product abroad without paying a duty, you should pay attention to the cost of tires and their weight. Regulating how many tires can be brought from Poland according to the law at no additional charge, the republic's regulations also take into account the number of entries into the country by a foreign citizen.

The total value of the goods must not exceed 1,500 €. Weight - 50 kg. But this rule applies only to those who cross the Polish border no more than once every three months.

If you enter Poland more than once every three months, the weight and price limit of goods for duty-free export is reduced. The purchased tires will have to weigh no more than 20 kg and cost no more than 300 €. Otherwise, you will need to pay a fee.

Calculation in the country is made only in euros. It is recommended to change the currency in advance to save your time abroad.

  1. Customs clearance rules.

In addition to the above, the following rules have been established for the export of tires from the Republic of Poland to Belarus, the Russian Federation, Ukraine and other countries:

  • only the owner himself can take out duty-free a set of rubber for his car (if the vehicle is driven by a person by proxy, you will need to fill out a customs declaration and pay the duty even if all the limits are met);
  • on motorcycles, it is allowed to export a set of two tires (three if there is a sidecar);
  • to transport goods across the border, you will need to present a registration certificate for a car or motorcycle;
  • it is prohibited to export / import into the territory of the Customs Union used tires separately from disks (used tires on disks are wheels, belong to another commodity group and are allowed for export from the territory of Poland);
  • in order not to pay the duty, you can enter the country on your used tires, buy a used one of the best quality in Poland, “change” the car and leave. In this case, BAT will not be returned to you (full VAT refund at the border), but the scheme is quite working;
  • to divide the weight of the wheels into two people, the import / export rules do not allow if you drive one car with one technical passport for it.

Tires on Polish markets are not inferior in quality to store tires. There is a large selection of new and used models for various car brands. The clothing market "Na Kavaleriyskaya" (Kavaleriyskaya street, 17a, 06:00 - 18:00 seven days a week) is popular with foreigners.

Those who are aiming at purchasing used tires in Poland should pay attention to Internet portals, where both winter and summer tires are widely presented at a reduced price.

Among the Polish outlets there are those that sell used tires, tractor tire dealers, as well as suppliers of new tires from well-known world brands. In the border towns, you can easily find shops offering car cosmetics, spare parts and accessories.

The price level for car tires in Poland

The cost of tires in Polish retail outlets depends on many factors, including:

  • wear level;
  • manufacturer;
  • the radius of the tires.

The most expensive option is new tires from well-known brands at a stationary outlet. Tires bought in an online store with self-pickup or purchased on the market can get by a little cheaper. When buying used tires, pay attention to the level of tread wear.

The most expensive brands on the market:

  • Michelin
  • Cooper
  • Continental
  • Goodyear
  • Pirelli
  • Hankook
  • Toyo
  • Bridgestone
  • Nokian
  • Kumho
  • Yokohama and Dunlop.

Slightly lower prices for Fulda, Matador, Firestone, Cordiant, Kleber, Sava, KAMA, Nexen, Taurus, Mickey Thompson, Syron, Maxxis, Tigar, Roadstone.

An important nuance: when purchasing rubber in a Polish online store, you will face the need to issue VAT through a local reseller. The services of such a person will cost about 7% of the gross price. But in the end, summer and winter tires from Poland are still a profitable purchase.

Whether it is profitable to go to the Republic of Poland for car tires, a price comparison will help to decide.

Tire cost, euro:

  • in Poland -54;
  • in Lithuania -50;
  • in Belarus - 67.

How to order tires with delivery from Poland

If you do not have the opportunity to go shopping in Poland on your own, there are two options for ordering goods with delivery:

  • contact a store that provides a service for the delivery of goods to other countries;
  • use cargo delivery services.

The average cost of the services of logistics companies is 2 € per 1 kg. The cost of the service in online stores ranges from 5-15% of the cost of the product, depending on its weight and dimensions.

For example, to the Russian border the cost of delivery is on average 100 rubles per 1 kg, and then it depends on the chosen delivery method: "Russian Post", EMS, TK.

The advantage of transport companies is that you can order delivery of goods from any city: Warsaw, Elblag, Bialystok and others. The possibilities of a single store may be limited and self-pickup will be required.

Summarizing

On the territory of the Republic of Poland, a wide range of car tires are manufactured and sold.

The purchase of goods will be the most profitable for VAT refunds and purchases through online stores. You can take out the rubber yourself or arrange delivery at the store / logistics company itself. However, you can export more than one set of tires in two years.

Used rubber is exported only on disks. In doing so, you should remember about the restrictions on weight and cost.

In some Polish stores, you can conclude an agreement for the storage of goods and take out two tires in two visits to the country. But these are additional transportation costs.
