A government briefing was held in Georgia, the main topic of which was the message of doctors about the passage of the peak of the coronavirus and planning an exit from quarantine. The Cabinet of Ministers has already begun a phased weakening of restrictions imposed to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection.

The government officials' plan for the phased lifting of restrictions has six points. In accordance with this plan, Georgia's return to normal life and functioning of the economy will take place gradually, the interval between each stage will be two weeks. According to the first point of this plan, from Monday, April 27, the food markets and services that transport citizens in taxis received permission to resume work. Delivery services and online wholesalers and retailers were allowed to resume operations. At the same time, only those facilities, institutions and companies are allowed to work that comply with the recommendations developed by the national Ministry of Health.

The daily curfew imposed in the country, which must be observed in the evening and at night, will also continue to operate. In the foreseeable future, it is not planned to resume the regular communication between Tbilisi, Batumi, Rustavi and Kutaisi, which was closed on April 15th. But for citizens who want to move to their place of residence or to their place of work, an exception was made on April 27-28.

Chikovani did not rule out that if the epidemiological situation in the country worsens, the previously established bans may be renewed. In accordance with the plan of the Cabinet of Ministers of Georgia, the abolition of most of the restrictions, subject to a decrease in the number of infected people, will take place only by the middle of summer. It is possible that all restrictions will be finally lifted only at the end of the year.

Due to non-compliance with the requirements of the country's Ministry of Health, most food markets were never opened. For example, in Telavi, due to the fact that some traders and visitors were without medical masks, the market was closed after three hours. A large fine was imposed on the market leadership for violations of the requirements by a physician. And because of the lifting on April 27-28 of restrictions on movement between cities for the purpose of "family reunification", huge traffic jams have formed on the country's central highways.

As of April 29, 496 cases of coronavirus infection were officially registered in Georgia, while 149 people managed to recover, 6 died due to complications caused by the disease. According to Georgian doctors, these are the best indicators in the region.
