The highest legislative body in Spain has decided to extend the state of emergency. The end date was pushed back by two weeks. The newspaper El País notes that this decision was dictated by the current situation against the background of the epidemiological situation in the country.

Parliament has decided to extend the national isolation for at least another ten days. Such measures are causing serious debate in the country. The People's Party, believed to be in opposition to the current government, said this week that it refuses to comply with an extension of the self-isolation regime.

Pedro Sánchez, who is the prime minister in the government, warned parliament that Spain should not get out of the state of emergency by leaps and bounds. This can be a “total unforgivable mistake”.

Already at the end of April, Spain began to relax the restrictive measures that were taken to curb the total spread of the coronavirus. Residents were given the opportunity to start physical exercise in the fresh air. This applies not only to personal physical activity. Such measures to relax the regime were also provided to families with children. A special time has been allocated for them in which they can visit the street together.

Recall that since the beginning of the mass epidemic of coronavirus in the country, more than 253.6 thousand cases have been officially confirmed. Of these, 25, 9 thousand deaths, including 244 people died in the last 24 hours. At the same time, 160 thousand Spaniards have successfully recovered from a terrible disease.

Spain was among the countries with the most unfavorable epidemiological situation. It currently ranks second in the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus.
