Due to the spread of coronavirus infection, a large number of countries have introduced strict restrictive measures in order to suspend the new disease. Iceland is one of them. However, the state is beginning to gradually weaken the previously introduced procedures. The changes will take effect on May 25. It is reported by the daily British newspaper The Guardian.

The Icelandic authorities said that the decision to change is due to the fact that the country is experiencing a favorable epidemiological situation. At this point in time, only two citizens of the country have to be treated for complications caused by coronavirus infection. This is a very small figure, so prohibitions are no longer necessary.

It became known that Torolfur Gudnason, who holds the post of chief epidemiologist of Iceland, proposed several times to weaken the imposed restrictive measures. The opening of bars, swimming pools and gyms was considered. And also people were allowed to gather in groups. The main thing is that the number of people does not exceed 200.

By the onset of May 22, a total of 1803 people were recorded in the state who were infected with coronavirus. Of these, 1,791 patients have recovered safely, 2 are being treated for complications, and for 10 people the disease has ended in death.

As soon as the coronavirus infection began to spread throughout the world, Iceland responded in a timely manner and took the necessary preventive measures. On March 7, a state of emergency was introduced on the territory of the entire state. It was thanks to timely action that Iceland was able to contain the outbreak of COVID-19 and minimize the sad consequences.

Until June 15, the government of the country wants to open borders and resume flights with other states.
