Cypriot husband
Traditionally, the people of Cyprus call themselves Cypriots. In Greek, this word sounds more appropriate and familiar, it is difficult for the Russian ear to immediately accept it.
Women who decide to marry a Cypriot sometimes have no idea what the future holds for them. Despite the relaxed lifestyle usual for Cyprus, the locals are very scrupulous about their families. Cypriots prefer not to talk about politics, finance, culture - they are simply not interested in it. Hence the complete absence of sources of stress.
But the family relationships of the Cypriots are very rapid. Men and women from Cyprus are very jealous, and often try to limit the freedom of their foreign half. In fact, there is nothing wrong with that, given that the husband in a foreign land becomes much dearer than his compatriot. However, this attitude will not last a year or two, but throughout life. Many Russian wives cannot endure constant outbursts of jealousy, so divorce happens very often.
Life in Cyprus
It is very expensive to live in Cyprus. Prices for food, housing, electricity, gas and water are several times higher than in Russia. Of course, the level of wages is higher than in Russia, but compared to Cyprus before the crisis, wages have dropped at least three times. Cypriots, accustomed to spending their free time relaxing in the sun, felt an acute shortage of money for the first time in a long time.
But here Russian tourists came to the rescue very opportunely, whose influx occurred after the borders of Turkey and Egypt were closed for Russians. Following the habit in Europe of taking more from the Russians than is necessary, Cypriots live quite well in the warm season, which lasts almost ten months in Cyprus.
The language barrier
Knowledge of the language plays an important role in a happy family life with a Cypriot. Residents of Cyprus are very lazy and not ready to start learning Russian, even for their own family benefit. In family life, a Russian wife will first have to accustom herself to speak English with her husband in order to devote herself to the intricacies of the Greek language throughout the rest of her life.
There is a large Russian-speaking population on the island, but, as a rule, they are immigrants from Russia or the USSR, who also moved to live in Cyprus. It is rare to find a Cypriot who fully speaks Russian. According to local residents, imperfect English is enough to communicate with tourists, and other languages are an extra hassle.
Russian women who moved to Cyprus after their wedding take a long time to get used to such a measured way of life. However, in order to create family happiness, they are ready to give this island a chance to show its best side.
