Due to the pandemic, the Greek authorities were forced to temporarily suspend work in the tourism sector. And so that tourists do not get bored during self-isolation, the authorities have launched a new service - an online tour of museums and other sights of the country.

According to the latest official data, Greece is one of the first among the countries that is preparing to open the tourist season from the beginning of June 2021. This country has one of the lowest incidence rates of Covid-19, so the authorities expect a colossal influx of tourists this year.

Such a good forecast was officially announced by the Minister of State Akis Gerapetritis, according to the website of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia.

Tourism Minister Harisa Teocharisa adds that the tourist season in the country will begin in July, and due to the large influx of tourists, it may last until October and November. However, due to the pandemic, citizens will not be accepted from all countries. And only with a special certificate from the attending physician.

The politician clarified that the opening of the borders will be coordinated with specialists from the Ministry of Health. It is worth mentioning that tourism makes up a fifth of the country's economy and allows a quarter of the working-age population to be employed.

This information is also confirmed by Russian operators operating in Greece. It was thanks to the urgent measures of the introduction of quarantine measures and their observance by citizens that the rate of spread of the viral infection was stopped.

From May 4, quarantine measures will be gradually weakened in the country: beauty salons, shops, churches will open, and from June - department stores, theaters, hotels, attractions. However, some laws on health measures will continue to be in force.

According to media forecasts, Turkey and Greece may be the first countries to open their borders to foreign citizens. Subject to the normalization of the epidemiological situation.
