The Minister of Tourism of the Republic Haris Theocharis has published the rules for tourists wishing to visit the country. One of the main requirements for foreign guests is to pass a coronavirus test 72 hours before departure.

Greeks flying to other countries for tourist purposes will also be required to undergo infection verification. The new rule has already been promulgated in a document prepared by the Ministry of Tourism and the National Public Health Organization (EODY). Without this document, they will not be allowed to board.

Upon arrival at the destination, temperature is measured for all passengers and the passengers' luggage is treated with a disinfectant. The Minister of Tourism assured that the presence of such a certificate will be a guarantor of safety, both for the person himself and for the surrounding passengers.

Also, Greek officials do not intend to reduce the number of passenger seats on planes. In their opinion, this measure will not help in the fight against the pandemic, but will only undermine the financial condition of the carriers.

From now on, there will be no printed publications, newspapers for passengers on board the aircraft, food and water will be canceled, with the exception of snacks and packaged snacks.

Each hotel will have a doctor specially trained to work with patients diagnosed with coronavirus. And if necessary, guests will be tested for Covid-19. If the diagnosis is confirmed, the tourist is isolated in a "quarantine hotel" - a specially equipped building where the patient will be provided with medical assistance and proper care.

The government plans to build such "quarantine hotels" throughout the country.

Almost all hotels will cancel the buffet, and rest on the beaches will be strictly regulated in compliance with social distancing and with the obligatory treatment of each sun lounger on the beach after each tourist.

According to preliminary forecasts of local authorities, the tourist season will begin no earlier than July 1. Currently, the rules for internal and external tourism are still being regulated in order to arrive at a unified European position on this issue.
