Entry to the Chinese island province of Hainan has recently become visa-free for more than fifty countries. Eastern Hawaii's amazingly diverse tropical landscape has opened up to a huge number of tourists.

Visa-free regime

You can get to the island without a visa only by direct flight without a transfer in mainland China (except for Hong Kong and Macau) as part of a tourist group (at least 1 person). Those who enter without a voucher need to apply for a visa for 14 days upon arrival at the airport Haikou (Meilan) or Sanya (Phoenix).

Small Precautions

Vaccinations are not required before traveling to Hainan. But there are recommendations from medical institutions.

You need to follow simple rules:

  • do not drink raw water;
  • do not eat on the street;
  • do not eat raw foods;
  • wash your hands before eating;
  • wash vegetables and fruits well;
  • protect yourself from mosquitoes.

To save time and money, it is recommended that you bring a first aid kit with you, excluding prohibited substances.

Special rules

China is an interesting state, but strict with its compatriots and guests. Failure to comply with certain rules may result in deportation or fines.

Upon entering the island, luggage, personal belongings and mobile devices can be carefully checked. Pornographic materials found on the phone, statements on military, political, racial topics will lead to immediate deportation at the expense of the offender.

It is better to get the information you need to communicate using your phone by going to a local SIM card.

Other rules

You can get around by taxi, public transport, rented moped or bicycle. Renting a car will be problematic.

There is a fine for dragging food to your room from the buffet in hotels.
