Eiffel Tower

The most famous sights of France can be seen in its capital, Paris. The famous Eiffel Tower is considered the symbol of the city. Erected on the eve of the 1889 World's Fair, it was to be demolished 20 years after it was held. However, the tower immediately began to attract increased attention of tourists, and it was decided to leave it permanently in the capital. Today it is considered the most visited attraction in the world.

Louvre

More ancient history has Louvre... It was built in the 12th century and was designed to protect the city from Viking raids. Two centuries later Louvre became the residence of the French kings. However, its true heyday began in the second half of the 16th century. As a result of the reconstruction, the Louvre was merged with the palace. Tuileries and richly decorated. Today, it has turned into the largest museum in the world, whose collection contains such masterpieces as Venus de Milo, Nika of Samothrace and La Gioconda by Leonardo da Vinci.

Versailles

The Palace of Versailles is located 20 km from Paris, surrounded by a magnificent park. Created during the reign of Louis XIV, the palace and park ensemble at Versailles became the embodiment of French absolutism. Its layout is made in the traditions of classicism, but the interior of the palace is distinguished by its baroque splendor.

The park alleys are a kind of continuation of the halls of the palace. They are located parallel or perpendicular to each other. Each alley ends with a mirror-smooth pond. In the Park of Versailles, you can admire bushes and trees trimmed in the form of geometric shapes, picturesque carpet beds, grandiose fountains decorated with sculptures in antique style.

Notre dame cathedral

One of the main historical sights of France - Notre dame cathedral... Its architectural appearance combines features of the Romanesque and Gothic styles. The eponymous novel by Victor Hugo brought world fame to the cathedral. Unfortunately, in April 2019, a magnificent monument of the French Middle Ages was destroyed by fire. Restoration work is underway there today.
