Every year the Czech capital is visited by a large number of travelers who want to see the famous Prague cathedrals and other equally famous cultural monuments. The most convenient and fastest way for them to easily get to this city is by air. The guests of the capital are welcomed by several operating air terminals. However, despite the fact that all the airports in Prague are available to tourists, most of them arrive at the airport. Vaclav Havel.

Briefly about Czech aviation

You can get to the Czech Republic by plane from many countries of the world - seven civil airports in the country have international status. At the same time, domestic air transportation in the Czech Republic is not particularly popular.

The transportation of passengers to technically feasible destinations is carried out by the national airline Czech Airlines.

In the capital of the Czech Republic there is a representative office of Aeroflot, as well as other major international airlines, in particular Air France, CSA, Delta Airlines, Lufthansa.

The main air gate of the Czech Republic is located in Prague - this is the Vaclav Havel Airport. In addition, there are 3 more airports in the capital:

  • Prague-Kbely;
  • Letняany;
  • Accurate.

In addition, not far from Prague, at a distance of just a dozen kilometers, there are the Bubovice, Vodohody and Kladno air complexes.

Vaclav Havel Airport

Prague Air Station Vaclav Havel, formerly Ruzin or Ruzyne (IATA code: PRG), is the largest in the Czech Republic. This is one of the few airports where excursions are held that introduce everyone to the work of ground services for the preparation and maintenance of aircraft and flights (it is called handling).

From the airport. Vaclav Havel operates flights to 130 destinations, including Russia: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Rostov, Samara, Voronezh and Yekaterinburg.

Famous low-cost airlines in Europe fly from here, allowing for low-cost air travel.

The airport has four terminals. Most international flights are served in the northern terminals (1 and 2), which are within walking distance of each other. The third terminal serves private and charter flights, while the fourth serves official state visits and VIP clients.

On the territory of the airport there are shops, banks, a pharmacy, a room for a mother and a child, you can rent a stroller. There are bars where smoking is allowed.

The flight schedule is easy to follow using the online scoreboard. Passengers enjoy free Wi-Fi for 24 hours.

Priority Pass owners can wait for their flight in a cozy business lounge, which has everything you need for a comfortable stay or work.

Kbely airport in Prague

Kbely Airport mainly serves domestic Czech airlines and only some international destinations. According to the classification, Kbely is a military airfield, so there is no regular service on it.

However, it is possible to fly from here on an individual route on a rented plane. For these purposes, the aerospace complex has its own flight equipment base.

You can book a private flight online: for this you need to go to the official website of the airport zdl.army.cz.

There are two runways at the Kbely airfield: the main one is concrete, 49 meters wide and 2080 meters long; and to the south of it there is a reserve asphalted one, which is 60 meters wide and 1200 meters long. Passengers are served by one terminal.

On the north side of the airfield there is a free parking lot, not far from it there is a gas station and a car service center. There are shops and cafes nearby, as well as the Black Bridge shopping and entertainment center. You can stay overnight in one of ten hotels that are located within walking distance.

You can get to the airfield by metro (Letňany station), by bus or by taxi. In the afternoon, buses No. 110, 136, 140, 158, 185, 195, 201, 209, 302, 352, 375, 376, 377 and 378 run to the Letňany stop.

Prague Letnany Airport is located near the Kbely air station. It is a public terminal serving domestic flights and also offers international private flights. The airfield accepts aircraft up to 6 tons, helicopters up to 15 tons, motor gliders, gliders, balloons and airships.

In addition to takeoff and landing, a whole range of services is also provided here:

  • refueling;
  • accommodation in a hangar;

  • minor repair work.

In addition, at Letняany airport there is a hotel for pilots, parking spaces for cars, and it is possible to use a taxi service. During the warmer months, the Letecká vyhlídka café is open overlooking the airfield.

Since there are private international flights from the airport, pilots and passengers go through passport control on its territory, however, an application for its passage must be submitted 28 hours in advance.

There are no ticket offices at the airport, as only private aircraft are serviced, and you cannot buy plane tickets here.

Concerts and various cultural events are often held on the territory of the airfield. In addition to the runways and hangars, there is a track for extreme driving. Near the airport there is a national reserve in which the European gopher, listed in the Red Book, lives.
