The tourism sector in Bulgaria is already in full swing preparing for the opening of the summer season. As of April 30, new internal rules have already been introduced for all hotels in the country.

According to the internal regulations, all cars arriving at the recreation area will be disinfected, and the temperature of newly arrived guests will be measured twice.

Another prerequisite for tourists is keeping the distance, both during registration and during the entire stay at the hotel, and after each guest will be sanitized. When visiting restaurants, vacationers will be required to disinfect their hands, and seating in the room will be provided with the required distance.

Changing rooms and toilets will be sanitized once an hour, staff must wear masks and gloves. All water attractions will remain closed.

Local authorities predict that the summer season will be open from July 1, but this is not accurate data: everything will depend on the incidence rate.

Health Minister Kirill Ananyev adds that tourists should keep their distance from each other on the beach: the distance between the sun loungers will be at least 4 meters for 1 vacationer and 8 meters for two people.

According to the Sofia Globe, quarantine measures will gradually weaken from May 4:

  • citizens will be allowed to visit parks and mountains on condition of distancing;
  • bars and restaurants will reopen after scrutiny by the regional health inspectorates and the food safety agency;
  • allow individual outdoor sports training, but not competition;
  • the swimming pools will be opened subject to all preventive measures - disinfection of changing rooms and keeping the distance.

Prime Minister Boyko Borisov commented that strict rules must be followed to effectively fight the infection and added that one should not expect the virus to end in "a year or two."
