German Interior Minister Horst Seehofer said that due to the observance of preventive measures by the population, the level of spread of Covid-19 was slowed down, which made it possible to open the borders of Germany with Austria, France and Switzerland from June 15, provided that the positive dynamics of the decrease in the number of infected remains.

And starting from May 16, border controls with these three states will be replaced by selective ones, and some groups of citizens from EU countries will be partially allowed to enter the country.

However, Germany will partially open its borders only for EU member states, where the incidence rate is low, and for the citizens of the United States and Russia, quarantine measures will not be weakened yet. The politician mentioned that Russia is currently ranked 2nd in the spread of coronavirus, so it will be difficult to predict how events will develop further.

According to information from German sources, Russian citizens will not be issued visas at the embassy and consulates general until June 15. And all booked interviews from May 4 - June 15 will automatically be canceled.

The diplomatic mission urges Russians to avoid visiting the consulate and to postpone visa processing until the ban is lifted. Then it will be possible to submit documents online. And currently, visa processing is possible only in exceptional cases - for medical staff or travelers who need to cross the German border in order to get to their home country.
